i have been given duac by gp which seems to be working, but am so confused on what i should be using to care for my skin.
i was always under the impression acne type skin should be washed and left alone, but theres so many masks, toners, exfoliants ect i get confused.
i just want a simple wash and moisteriser for the day,i dont use mpoisteriser at night. do i really need to exfoliate and use a mask?

Hi Kel,
Don't add confusing factors in. Just use a gentle cleanser and the medication your derm gave you. If you need a moisturizer, find something light and oil-free and non-comedogenic. Any of the gentle cleansers on Dan's list would be fine to use.
Exfoliators and masks are not necessary.

You are right, it is overwhelming reading all these things but basically, imo, the fewer things the better.
Gentleness is essential, so no scrubs. And masks have never done a darn thing for me.
Give your new medicine time to work, treat your skin gently. That Duac is a combo antibiotic/bp product, so it has the potential to work very well, just give it time. Keep it simple.

i think even with the medicine just a simple cleanser and moisterisr is the key,am having trouble finding ones in the uk,esp spf moisterisers.
i will stay well clear from scrubs and masks, never really used them anyway, even when i wasnt having acne treatment, think its all a scam. dermalogica do a cleanser and moisteriser but they are expensive.

I agree with Brandy. The KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid) works best when it comes to acne. Wash, moisturise and / or apply acne treatment. If its of any interest I use the Kiss My Face olive oil soap, moisturise with aloe vera & jojoba oil and use green cream as a sort of treatment. However, I am currently clear from a recent accutane course.

Kel, if you are still having trouble finding a cleanser/moisturizer in the UK, I would post something on the international forum. You may have better luck finding people in your area that know what they have in stores there.
