hello all,
Im 21 years old, 22 in 2 months. and i still have bad acne, its confined to the area surrounding my mouth on my face and i also get it on my chest, back and shoulders.
My back is by far the worst though.
I've been on antibiotics many times, and they worked as long as i was using them, but the acne came back as soon as i came off them!!
I've also tried acupuncture which provided little to no results!!
Now im trying to limit the amount of sugary, fried foods, Dairy products ect in my diet.
I've also, Started taking vitimin supplements, Vitimin A, B Complex, Cod liver oil, evening primrose oil, Vitimin c and zinc and garlic.
Im washing my face twice a day with, Tea tree oil soap and moisturising with fruit of the earth aloe vera gel.
But hey whadaya no, im still breaking out almost everyday.
im all out of ideas now. doubt.gif

I'll make some suggestions. You're the same age as me so I'll try to think of things you havn't said.

Increase fatty acids - peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc.
Excercise - At least 20-30 minutes a day (At least!)
Dip - Dip your head in a sink of hot water for 1-2 minutes every night before bed.
Milk Thistle - Take the pills or the drink
Sleep - get your 8 hours
Liver Flush - try doing a liver flush. It works wonders for some people. I did one only recently, and it seems to have helped me.

That's all that comes to mind. Of course it's more of what you already know, but give it a shot.

Accutane cleared me up with the quickness. I'm turning 22 in May, and my only regret with accutane is that I let people scare me off of it when I was younger.

Or you could take Peace of Mind's advice and get Accutane which for me worked a treat. I too regret letting people talk me out of it for so long.

diet definetely has alot to do with it, look at raw food diets just to research some of the connections between food and acne-particularly cooked foods. It takes a lot of will to put up with it, I tried but couldn't take it after a week. But even to have knowledge of what's out there helps.
Also-what has helped me is using natural products on my face. Use a mild face cleanser with few chemicals in it. I use Laventine's Olive cleanser. It would help if you check out a list of chemicals that can act as irritants to acne and rosacea as well (sometimes the symptoms are very similar), to make sure the cleanser doesn't contain it. Many people experience irritation from tea tree because it dries out the skin, the same for witch hazel.
After you cleanse, use an oil such as emu oil, Weleda's Seabuckthorn oil, Almond oil, or grapeseed oil to massage into your face. (These are ones that work for me) This will help your body prevent the production of excess oil. It sounds like an oxymoron, but making this change has changed my skin. Cleansing with certain products can strip your skin of its natural oil, and your body will think that it needs to produce more-therefore the excess contributes to clogged skin and pimples. Do not put a lot of oil, about the size of a nickel's worth, enough to lightly cover your face. You do not need moisturizer if you are using oil, particularly since most moisturizers actually cause your skin to dry out again after a few hours. You need something to help your skin use its OWN ability to moisturize itself.
Trust me we all know what you're going through, my skin isn't perfect but I am constantly experimenting and seeing what works. I know that diet has everything to do with acne, so definetly look down that route as well, you just have to have patience.

there are ppl who do well on accutane and there are ppl whose acne comes right back, I've seen both. u can't deny that medication of that strength has no negative effects on your body, particularly the implications of liver toxicity and heart problems. so many people are willing to just pop a pill to "fix" whatever problem they have, not realizing the permanent damage they could cause to their bodies. I realize a lot of this is out of desperation, but the consequences are real. Just because the effects are not visible immediately or on the outside, does not mean that you are not impaired internally. i think this kind of attitude is reflective of our society right now, particularly when u see so many commercials for pharmaceutical drugs (the other day i saw one for "shaking leg syndrome"..? wtf?) it's ridiculous. at the same time look at america and the cancer rates.. what goes around comes around. If what u want is a quick fix, thats exactly what you're going to get...a quick fix.
