I'm 23 and I still get pimples. Now, I've never really had a big problem with the number of pimples. I've had them pretty much continuously since I was 13 or 14. I think my pimples come from 2 things: large pores and oily skin. Neither my mom or my dad said they had an acne problem when they were younger, but my mom has large pores and my dad has oily skin, and I think I've inherited both.
Whatever I lack in quantity, I think I certainly make up for in quality, as the pimples I do get are usually big. My question is this: If anyone has had either one (or both) of these conditions, can you tell me something that has maybe worked for you? Would some sort of pore reducer be a good idea? I know they have pills that people can take that will lower oil secretion, but I'm not sure if that stuff works. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
any suggestions...

pore minimisers might actually make acne worse. you have to fix acne first because that'll in turn help with your pore size problem.
one of my derms attempted to fix my enlarged pores with some minimiser and after about a week or two we had to stop it. my zits and whiteheads didnt decrease in number.
years later i took accutane and it tremendously decreased my skin's oiliness, reducing the greasiness of my face and making my pores a bit tighter. that's when i was able to use a pore minimizer (vmv hypoallergenics) with aluminum chlorhydrol without having any problem. it didnt make my pores invisible though, and the effect was just temporary for a number of hours, or as long as your skin is dry.
im on my 2nd course on accutane. when i get rid of my zits i might try DERMAdoctor Picture Poreperfect Pore Minimizing Solution. they offer clinical studies of it but yeah im not sure how true they are so i plan to try it.

i seriously recommend to do whatever you can to minimize your sebum/oil production on your face
whether this is through drugs (not recommended because of side effects) or dietary approaches (such as more EPA/DHA/ALA intake) or using a milder cleanser or spending less time cleansing is up to you but it is obvious that excessive viscous oil production is a very large factor in many acne cases
