Hello all. I'm a 37 yr old male who has basically had acne for 22 yrs now. In my youth it was severe with deep painful cysts. Over the last 20 plus years its become just annoying with always a few every week and always paranoid when the next one will hit. My only problem is in the T-zone area. Rest of my face is clear. I have very oily skin only in that area also. I usually have 1-2 cysts a year and have those injected with a steriod solution. I just can't believe its been 20 yrs of dealing with this. Do you think Accutane at a low dose would help. If i don't i think i'm in for another 20 yrs of acne. The emotional pain and religious routines just aren't worth it anymore. Any pro/cons on Accutane. Also i work in a cold storage dist center and am in basically 38 degree weather for 8 hrs. What would the cold and tane do to my skin ?? Thanks
Accutane ???

See a dermatologist and get their opinion. I have had acne for 17 years and am finally on Accutane. It feels great to know that my acne might possibly be 'cured' after this...

Hi,
(ps,.. i am from the Netherlands, so if my english isn't that good i do apologize)
For me it started 10 years ago beginning on my back and chest and spreading out on my face, especially around my mouth.
It has been a painfull and psychologically difficult time.
Anyway, now i am 26 and still have "outbreaks" now and then as well.
My treatment untill now has been:
A cleaning fluid with Acidum Salicylicum / Resorcinolum / Alcohol Ketonatus.
Followed by Benzoylperoxide gel.
These 2 products did only make everything worse and more painfull.
After that i was put on 2 different types of Anti-biotics, for one year, this surely helped alot but unfortunatly after i stopped using them it was all back within one month.
After that i was given something called Dalacin-T (Clindamicina) this helped me a little bit.
When i was 23 i started with Roaccutane, this did perform miracles, i had 2 cures of about 1 year i did get the usual side effects like superdry lips and skin, dry eyes (couldn't wear my contactlenses anymore) and i got a rash on my hands and lower arms, other effects did not occur.
Unfortunatly now it is slowly coming back again around my mouth and my back, so i guess i have to start on accutane again soon.
My tip to you is when you use accutane, excersise alot, i mean go to the gym and work out, it helps reduce other possible side effects, and do not use protein powders with alot of vitamine A since that is already the base of accutane and to much is not a good thing.
Accutane is a "last option" thing so get some good advice before using it, see a specialist or doctor first.
Good luck,
Paul.

I love your name imoily-I have not met anyone who has a face as oily as mine! I have dry skin everywhere else-after being on accutane I love having oily skin lol, when you have oily skin it takes longer to get wrinkles-now that I am in my 30's I appreciate that. Seriously I hated having oily skin until I learned all the benefits of having it-it is a lot better than having dry skin because dry skin is wrinkled lol. It took 2 weeks after I got off accutane for my oily skin to come back, no more large quantities of oil of olay on my face.
