its me again... ummm i dont know where to create this thread so i just created here... sorry... cant post it in my log cause no one hardly reads it.
just a quick question...
does anyone here went through Roaccutane without any IB?
For me its IB times 4 maybe 5... have to wait and see on that...
because i asked my Derm the other day if she have something to reduce IB and she said not everyone gets IB, then i was surprised!!! is it even possible??
This is a quick copy and paste from www.roaccutane.com.au
When some people take Roaccutane, their acne gets a little worse for a while before it gets better. This is called a 'flare up' and is generally nothing to worry about as it doesn't last long and shows that the treatment is working.
If your dermatologist has requested that you contact them should you experience a flare-up, it is important that you do.
Flare-ups usually happen about 2-4 weeks after starting Roaccutane, and if you get one you will probably notice some worsening of your existing acne and you may even get a couple of new spots. If you do, make sure you tell your dermatologist (particularly if you have been asked to) and avoid using anti-acne creams. There is no need to stop the Roaccutane unless your dermatologist says you should.

Read below:
Roxithromycin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic. It is used to treat respiratory tract, urinary and soft tissue infections. Roxithromycin is derived from erythromycin, containing the same 14-membered lactone ring. However, an N-oxime side chain is attached to the lactone ring.
Roxithromycin is available under several brandnames, for example Surlid, Rulide, Biaxsig, Roxar and Roximycin.
Goto: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roxithromycin for more information
Update: Found another useful article, Read below.
Roxithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic, is used in the treatment of acne vulgaris, although there have been no reports on its concentration in lesions when administered orally. We investigated the concentration of roxithromycin in acne vulgaris lesions in five patients who received 150 mg roxithromycin orally twice daily for 2 weeks. The mean concentration of roxithromycin in the lesions was 0.54 microgram/ml. These results suggest that roxithromycin accumulates at therapeutic levels in the pilosebaceous system.
Another article:
Roxithromycin, a new orally semisynthetic macrolide, 150 to 300 mg per day was administered to 30 patients (2 male, 28 female cases, ranging in age from 14 to 26 years) with acne vulgaris. The period of administration was 2 to 8 weeks. The drug was considered to be markedly effective in 6 cases in which the eruptions had disappeared or almost disappeared, and effective in 16 cases in which eruptions had decreased, with overall efficacy rate of 73.3%. In order to examine the mechanisms of its action, we... etc etc
And another:
Background: The macrolide antibiotic roxithromycin is effective against acne associated with inflammation
Look's like if you search the drug's medical name not the brand you will find alot more information. Awesome smile.gif

Girls seem to clear up at random stages of Roaccutane.. Could be 2 weeks in, could be 1 month in but remember, Girls/women hormones are completely different, so this medication will affect them differently to us blokes.
The majority of people I have spoken to no these forums, in real life, etc. break out and go slightly red (depending on their current skin condition) during their IB period while on Roaccutane. I guess it depends on the dosage your on.
At the moment I'm on 20mg every 2nd day which is 80mg per week pretty much, so I can't expect to have a quick and crazy IB like alot of people get..
The others on 40mg every day or 20mg every day will most likely experience their IB much earlier.
*shrug* I'm not some Roaccutane expert I'm just speaking from what I've heard and what I've read while using logic
Freedom - get your hands on Roxythromycin. Take it for 2 weeks and if it makes no difference stop but I reckon you WILL see some kind of red reductiong in your skin colour. I'm not saying im 100% free of redness.. I still have a shitload and it pisses me off but some days you will have very very faint redness which is awesome then others not so faint but I guess that's just the drug doing it's magic along with Roaccutane.
If you wanna reply to my message post on my log because I probably wont beable to find this within all the other stuff lol
Good luck

whooaaa so many people dont get IB (so lucky) but yeh to be honest i just know about IB because of my last course... i noticed it went heaps woser!! it was very easy to see because i only have very mild acne which is mainly blackheads... then all of the sudden all these papules and pustules (which i didnt have before) then i read this forum and realised ohhh so this is IB....
Bob: i think the EES TAB 400mg is similar to Roxythromycin because the detail of it is almost identical... some about 14 rings and so on... i think it suppose to help the infection in the skin, and i also take them for 2 weeks then stop.

exactly what I was going to say. Accutane is a miraculous and powerful drug...but it does not work instantly. You need to build it up in your system and your skin needs to go through changes. So right when you start, during the first month or so, if you had a break out coming anyway, its going to still get you. I think when that happens some people just think its the IB....which is not always the case. I think the IB is a little more rare. Not everyone will get it. I didnt the first time I know that

that is one of the most touching things i've read since i started tane, and logging.. you know i was feeling so bad yesturday, that i thought to myself, i can't even update my log the way im feeling at the moment, and i know i should document even the crap stages, so that i can look back on it if it has all worked out for me, and see the progression, and also so that others know they're not alone.. i will today for sure.. anyway, i actually got just a little bit teary there reading your post, which is unlike me..just have some things going on at the moment, which is why the tane process is probably getting to me more than i thought it would, i suppose there's a bit of chink in my armour at the moment, lol! but i can't thankyou enough freedom, really, making the effort the drop a few lines in reply is just so simple but a wonderful thing to do and it makes all the difference in my day, when it's coming from someone who i know understands the condition, and the treatment..
anyway, im off out now.. but thanks again, and im also here for you anytime throughout your treatment, and will be closely following your log, all the best freedom.. have a good, evening, im guessing! , i think its evening time where you are..
