I have had an acne problem most of my life. In high school I treated it with antibiotics and then Accutane. In college it was the pill.

Now I am 27 and the pill gives me too many side effects to consider.

My acne is mostly just larger pores and blackheads in the t-zone, but I get it BAD on my lower cheeks and jawline.

It's strange though b/c it's usually the same spots - they'll become nodules w/o a head, I'll treat them, pop them, and then they'll leave red marks for 9 million years while their neighbor starts the same cycle.

So that, on top of the shallow scarring I have from my high school days, makes my skin look AWFUL.

I can't go on the pill. I've tried every one and they all have nasty side effects.

I don't want to go on Accutane, because I think that a. it contributed to my past depression and b. I take Adderall for ADHD and I already experience enough dryness as a side effect w/o doing the whole Accutane thing to my system on top of it.

Is there anything left?

Spiro? Saw palmetto?

I am at my wit's end, it is getting SO OLD sad.gif

BC didn't make a difference in my acne, mostly because the week of my period (dummy pills) reaked havoc on my face and I spent the next three weeks clearing up, only to have it happen again.
I've been on continuous BC (no dummy pills) without estrogen and that didn't help either.
And I just have too many negative side effects wtih BC. I'm off of it now and I feel so much better. And hey, my sex drive is back!! I still have acne, but BP keeps it down to less than 5 a month. I can live with that.
