For those of you considering ordering, you can take my experience into account. This lotion goes on like a dream! There is no other way to describe it, I wish all face products felt as smooth and lightweight. There is absolutely no tingling/burning/itching like we have all experienced with BP. I usually consider myself to have dry skin but after applying the BHA lotion after cleansing, I don't feel the need to use moisturizer (it is night time so no SPF needed).
Can't comment on the effectivness yet since this is application # 1, but I will keep you posted.

So I guess this would be day 5 of using the 2% lotion twice a day. I have not had one single bit of irritation which is great because I was expecting it to be as bad as using BP. I am finding that after putting it on at night I only need to moisturize around my eyes and no where else and when I use it in the morning I just use my Cetaphil SPF 15 lotion over top. I am hesitant to comment on the effectiveness as of yet because I have not even been using it for a full week but I will say that my complexion looks better ie. even skin tone and smoother skin. So far I have not noticed any change in existing blackheads but I think that I haven't been using it long enough so I will keep you posted!

Just to draw attention to this point, for anyone thinking of trying BHA I think that it is really important to read the explanations in full on the Paula's Choice website because she explains exactly how to use this product and how to phase it in to your routine. I ordered a sample size of the 1% lotion and a full size of the 2% so that I could work my way up with less irritation. I would consider myself to have sensitive and dry skin so I was expecting some stinging or irritation to occur but I never experienced any (just my experience remember it could be different for you). And now I am using the 2% lotion at day 5 and still it feels like I simply putting regular moisturizer on.

Keeping you posted as promised
So far -a recap
Week 1 -skin looks smoother, no change in pores
Week 2 -breakout
Week 3 -breakout clears, pores look better, skin is more even-toned
I am glad to see that people are reading this and are now considering this product. Its not that I want to endorse PC or anything, I just really wished that I could have read someone else's experience before I started. Many months ago I was doing the DKR and I relied on the 'what to expect' list a lot for support but there isn't a thread like that about BHA for comedonal acne.
Good luck to those who are just starting!

to answer your questions about what it looks like, the samples come in little square packets (same as free samples that come in magazines) and they have enough for 4 applications approximately. The full size is in a squirt bottle that is about 6 inches high. I don't see any reason why you need to spend more money buying the pump that is offered when you order -just my opinion.
To answer your questions about what I am using, I am using the 2% BHA lotion. It absorbs easily and is very soothing. I live in a cold climate and it is winter right now but I don't feel the need for added moisturization now that I am using this lotion. I will probably order the liquid or gel version when it is approaching summer.
My full routine is washing with cetaphil gentle cleanser morning and night, applying the bha morning and night and then moisturizing with cetaphil spf 15 lotion in the morn. The last step is really only for the spf because I am not concerned with any flaking or dryness.
I hope that those who are just starting will be seeing clear pores very soon!

The way my skin looks: wonderful, smooth, skin texture and tone is evening out, black heads are much reduced but not entirely eliminated, marks from old acne are almost gone. I can tell that the purging breakout is completely gone. I can also tell that my skin will be near perfect very soon which is so overwhelming for me when I think back to how miserable I used to feel at times when my acne would flare up.
The way I feel: so glad that this battle is finally over for me, and I cannot believe that all it took was a month on Paula's Choice. I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me because I no longer have to worry about waking up and putting on a bunch of makeup. I no longer spend a ton of time in the bathroom examining and picking at my skin simply because there is nothing there to pick at anymore, and I don't dare do anything to mess up the progress that I have made.
Guacamolly, j dub, Lorrie, I would love hear how you are doing with the BHA. And to everyone else, I would be happy to answer any questions you have about using Paula's Choice BHA.
