Hi.

I was wondering what some of you are using (or are considering using) after your accutane courses.

I really want to keep it simple and don't want to use any medicine. I'm thinking of using Cetaphil or some non-medicated soap twice a day. I may use St. Ives Apricot Scrub (Invigorating) once a week to exfoliate. Any suggestions? Do you think that exfoliation will be necessary after using accutane?? eusa_think.gif

Thanks for the help. smile.gif

I'm going to continue using the products listed in my signature. I'm also considering using Green Cream, or some other retinoid or glycolic acid.

Being 39, I have other things going on (fine lines, skin texture, and some sun damage). My skin is still totally clear...so hopefully I won't have to deal with acne meds anymore.

Thanks ScoobyDoo.

I keep hearing about Green Cream. Is it really strong? How many people find it effective? Is it anything like Retin-A? I used Retin-A years ago and it did not agree with my skin. Where can you buy Green Cream? Any info would be helpful.

Retin-A is a prescription medication.

Here is a discussion on Green Cream:

Don't rush into Topicals or any heavy-duty cleansers off the bat. Just slowly work your skin up to a tolerance level. Choose a gentle cleanser for the next few months, try a multi-vitamin and omega 3 -- both seem to help suppress acne. Be sure to follow up with your Dermatologist in a few months, that is when you should ask for Topicals.

I disagree. My derm prescribed me finacea to use in the last month of my course (As of today, I have 30 days left). I was going to wait until I finished to start. However, I tested it out last night and my skin looks amazing this morning.

I am a believer in Finacea.

It's a conveyance from my own 6 1/2 month journey with Accutane. Your skin is still sensitive up to 5-6 months after using Accutane. The only reason I said to wait was because I tried Topicals a month or so after Accutane and it had the same drying effects as Accutane. So, I used a gentle cleanser until my skin returned to normal. Then, a few months after I completed Accutane, I decided to use topicals gradually (Retin-A and Benzaclin) only on problem areas, not all over my face. Each their own.

Thanks for the input. For now, I'm using Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser in the morning and at night, and Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion at night only. I might stop using the Cetaphil lotion, but I haven't decided yet. I also might use St. Ives Apricot Scrub once a week or something, but not any more than that. Is that a bad idea? I just want to make sure that my skin stays healthy.
