My father had really bad acne and my mother's skin is as perfectly clear as can be. So who's skin do I get? My father's of course. He has significant scaring as well. He took antibiotics for a long time and they finally worked for him.

I've taken about every antibiotic and topical product available over the counter. The Pro-Activ's, BP products, etc made my skin look pretty damn good for the rest of that day or for several hours...but it always came back. I began getting deep cystic acne and the acne marks on my face are red and have been there for pretty much the past year or two. Not really many bumps however?

Finally get Accutane last week (Sotret generic version actually).

So I begin my log at

Day 8
I began noticing the dry skin and very chapped lips IMMEDIATELY on accutane. Which, I think is good because now I know that its working! Depending on my mood and the time of the day, my skin seems better already! I am maybe 10-15% clear already.

My doctor gave me a supply for only 3 weeks because he said that is all I would need. It seems that everyone here has been on it 6months or more and just NOW are noticing clearer skin.

Did anyone notice immediate results of clear skin (within 1-2 months)?

I am also taking Adderall twice a day with this drug. I have never been a person that took too many prescriptions/drugs my entire life. Adderall seemed to make my skin WORSE, but that might have been the result of not sleeping/eating right? I've lost ~35 pounds in 3 months as well and need to drop some more. Looking good for once in my life. Just need to take care of my bad skin with Accutane and constant dark circles (no solution for that though) confused.gif

I've been taking Accutane with a full glass of water with a little nuts/cheese in the morning, right after waking up. Would it be more effective with different food or a different time of day?

I just started taking Sotret too, about 4 days ago. So far, it hasn't been so bad. I'm sorry to hear that you got your bad skin from your father. But at least least you know where it came from. Neither of my parents had acne problems, so where on earth did I get mine!?

I heard some people start clearing up faster than others, maybe even in a month. It just depends on the person. Hopefully we can be those people ;]

The foods you're eating when you take Accutane are fine. I usually drink my pill with half a glass of milk, then with some water. I also eat a little right before. I was told it's best to take it with fatty foods, so your body absorbs it more. So nuts and cheese are perfect. Have you experienced any heartburn with the pill? I seem to be getting it very often, but I'm not sure if it's from all the vitamins I'm taking.

Day 9

New small pimple confused.gif confused.gif but the red marks on my face seem to be going away. I'm starting to take Vitamins K, C and E. Seem to be helping with my skin as well, especially the dark circles.
