Hi ladies...wanted to let you all know that I finally found the answer! I have been going to every derm trying to convince them that I have a hormone related acne problem and they all say no. Even after taking blood to test for this, all of my hormones were in balance, including testosterone (imbalances in this will cause acne). So I finally found Dr. Geoffrey Redmond (NY Endocrinologist) and he made me realize that even if you do have normal hormone levels, your body can be sensitive to the testosterone, therefore causing acne!!!!!
The only thing to stop this in women is Spiro. I have been on it for 6 months now and it is the ONLY thing that has EVER worked for me. I wanted to let everyone know b/c I know how awful it is and that there is a cure....you just have to hang in there b/c it works. And make sure that a derm or endocrin will put you on over 100 mg/day, that is the amount that it takes to work!!!
Best of luck and feel free to email with any questions!!!!!

I swear my acne is all hormonal also, although my blood work is fine according to my derm. However, ever since I got acne, my hair started thinning a lot & went from curly to barely a wave. Also the fuzz on my face is much thicker & more noticeable (somewhat longer) & I have told this to 4 different derms, 1 family doc, & 1 gyno & they all just seem to ignore all my symptoms except the acne.
I am going to the gyno in a week to check for polycystic ovary & if I'm clear from that, I am going to an endocrinologist. I really believe I have what you have but for a long time I was made to feel as if I'm loosing it & it's all in my head.

I think I may fit into that category. My endo (I have a thyroid prob already) ruled out PCOS b/c all my hormones are "normal" . . the only time my skin has been clear is when I was on the pill, which supresses some of your natural testosterone anyway.
Did you have side effects w/ Spiro though? It sounds pretty intense.
