Hi, I am 22 years old and I've struggled with acne for 8 years and tried everything. Last week my dermatologist put me on 40 mg of accutane and I'm really excited. I hope this is the solution to my prayers. I intend on posting here often if I'm not too busy with school.

Day 1: Got meds, took first dosage.

Well the first week has been a pretty eventful one. I've had roughly 8-9 new whiteheads, with about 2 appearing every day. My forehead has 4 gigantic pimples as well, so it looks like my initial breakout has happened. I haven't really suffered any side effects, my lips are dry, but they've always been dry for me. My skin is a little dry and I've noticed a little back pain, but nothing major.

Day 7
I woke up this morning and the four huge pimples were dramatically changed, they're almost gone. I've noticed a couple new whiteheads, but a few whiteheads have already been gone. Today has been brutal with dryness though. My head really itches so I went out and bought some new shampoo that used to be prescription only. Also, I've put moisturizer on my face about 4 times and used chapstick about every other hour. I also finished the first package yesterday (I take 2 pills Monday Wednesday Friday, 1 pill every other day, each dosage is 40 mg).

Update: Nothing too exciting. I've had dry skin and dry lips but that's about it. Sometimes my back will be a little sore but I don't know if that is from the meds or not. Not a big deal anyway. I have three giant pimples on the side of my chin but basically the routine has been getting new pimples and them going away a few days later.

My face is actually starting to get much clearer. I have a couple gigantic pimples on my forehead and some smaller ones on my cheeks but I am starting to notice more and more progress. My back is much better too. I ended the 3rd packet today and I was supposed to get blood work on Friday but of course the lab didn't have the order put in by my dermatologist, so hopefully it won't cause any delays with my meds.
