Hi, just wanna share my experience. I was on Ro-accutane (Australia) 2 years ago with extremely good result. But because i couldnt find any generic isotretioin at the time, the whole treatment cost me more than $1000 AUD sad.gif

After the course of treatment, my skin remained clear until recently where it began with increasingly oily and few break outs. And things are getting worse with more and more break outs, but still no as much compared to last time.
So i am thinking of starting back on isotretinoin. The only thing that stops me from starting it is the cost sad.gif cant really afford another course of this.
Then i found one of the generic brand which only cost me $120 USD for 60x20mgs, and at the same time i read about the studies on ultra low dose isotretinoin treatment for maintainence. After all these, i think i will start on isotretinoin on 20mg every second day. Lets hope this will work.

By the way, a bit on my background : i am a final year medical student, and like most doctors that i work with, i reckon most generic drugs are the same as "branded".

Take home msg for today --- > do some research before you spend a fortune on "branded" drug

Yeah I live in Australia and take Oratane, and it only cost me AU $30.70 for 60 x 40mg pills. Are you an international student and maybe dont have access to the PBS over here? Whether you do or dont, the generics are still fine. But consult your dermatologist before even considering starting them.

One derm told me, though it was one who didnt impress me in terms of her knowledge about acne treatment, that she had better result with the branded version... Though the generics are the same formula, so I don't see how that would happen...

ok, i'm on roche atm. (20mg x 30 = £61)

i'm thinking of switching to acnotin to save money? (20mg x 30 + £38) has anyone heard of this? who makes it???

do you think this sounds ok? it's quite a lot cheaper!

just need some reassurance before i do this!
