Medibeam treatment machine £100
Just thought I would share how I was getting on with the medibeam machine I started using end December ish. It is going very well (no spots on face at the moment, shame about some of the previous marks left by spots though!) I am taking oxytetracycline and using Eryacne 4 gel (4%) - standard prescription I believe - This is my first trip to the doc for quite a while for this problem. Why it took me this long to sort something out I don't know! I was also given BP 2.5% though from comments on the website I was cautious and have only used it on my back - thank goodness!
I have suffered on and off for 15 years. The spots I was getting on my face over the last 9 months were really large lumps that rarely came to a full head, but would last a long time and leave a nasty mark (these marks take approx 5-6 months to fade, and still make it look like I have spots even when the spot has gone. I also suffer on my back, though these spots are smaller and very painful.
I started the tablets etc. at about the same time as using the the medibeam (used on my FACE ONLY). My face is now spot free, but my back is still spotty. I also have developed a patch of about 8 spots on my neck (where medibeam was also not used). I am going to treat these with medibeam now and will report back. I have had these a couple of weeks but as they are not very visable with winter clothes on I've not been too worried about them. It's the face ones that get me down.
The downside of the machine is that the head that provides the light treatment is only approx 4.5cm in diameter, so it's not so bad for me as I have about 4/5 area's to cover. If my acne was wider spread it would just be too small and take all day to treat. You are recommended to treat each area for 6 mins on one cycle and 6 mins after on another. This is to be done twice a day. I would class my current acne as fairly mild (in the scheme of how bad it can get) so this may be worth bearing in mind.
[b]Upside -The machine is about the size of a tall portable home phone handset, though the head bit does pretrude out . It would fit in medium/large handbag. It is plug in only, no batteries which is a shame. I do think it has made a difference.
I have just stopped using it on the face as it's clear now and will see what happens, but will treat any area's that look like they are breaking out. I am happy to answer questions if anyone has any! I hope this helps anyone thinking about buying one.
