So I wanted to see what other people's patterns are. Mine has seemed to change. My skin 1st off has gotten oilier as Ive gotten older. (Im now 25 female).
My skin is oily all the time to some degree but worse other times. It wasnt till I was about 18 that I discovered the oil absurbing sheet and started using them. I only really needed them in the summer. sometimes not even then. its like it changes from month to month. I dont neccesarily notice more oil around my period like some girls say. Atleast i dont think.. its hard to pay attention.

Sinse I have been off accutane (been off a little over a year and 1/2) my oilyness came back and almost seems to be more. breakouts are VERY minimal and that may be due to the reg too.
anyway the pattern of my oil changed. my skin used to get the oiliest at night. now its oilier during the day. I wake up in the morning with hardly any oil. another way it has changed is I seem to be oilier in the winter. it did this last winter and this winter. If I recall correctly I think my skin was less oily in the summer. I just remember thinking last winter MAN if its oily now what is it going to be like in the summer but I had no worries..
I wonder if the inside heat from heaters causes it in the winter. I didnt start noticing the oil this winter untill I started using this little space heater by my desk.

Bah its all so confusing. I know there is a debate on if drying out your skin causes more oil and its so hard to make a decision because HONESTLY I have looked it up over and over and equal amounts of "legit" sources will say yes it does or not It doesnt. dermatologist and everything!!!!! seems like SOMEONE could figure this crap out.

Wow, that is exactly like my skin. Yeah, it's way, way oilier in the winter, and there is less oil being produced while sleeping.

While I don't remember it exactly, since I wasn't half as self-conscious last summer as I am now, I do believe it was the other way around.
More oil while sleeping and less during the day. Maybe the temperature outside has something to do with this strange phenomenon.

Either way, it's very, very annoying. After 1 hour, my nose just shines, after 2, my forehead shines, after 3 hours you can see your reflection
in my face. Urg.. and whipping my face off every hour makes it red after a few days.. any help with that would be appreciated, as in, how do you
keep it down to a low.

When I wake up in the morning my skin is normal..not oily and not dry. I wash it and by about noon my forehead is an oil slick as are the creases oh my nose. The rest especially my chin is DRY. It's always that way no matter the season and it's been that way for years.

Yup seems like we all have this in common. I just use blotting sheets. they are a God send. I use mary Kay ones. I usually only have to use one a day. some months I hardly use them at all. this month and december has been non stop though.

So yeah.. here is another weird factor. On saturdays right I sleep in I dont get up and take a shower at like 7:00 in the morning like I do weekdays. sometimes I dont take a shower till like noon or even 2pm. My skin doesnt get NEARLY as oily on those days!!! Even after I shower on those days my skin stays fresher longer than on weekdays when I shower and wash my face early.

Now what does that mean? does it mean in the winter my skin does not like to be washed early so it produces more oil? where as when I leave my face alone in the morning/afternoon it stays calm... its almost like some kind of balance is disturbed.

But then they say over and over.. No external factor changes your oil production.. its all internal. Im sorry I dont buy it.

It's part internal for me. I can't prove this or know this for sure, but when I leave the house I always stress a bit if I'm on time (damn public transport).
This doesn't seem to help, and not even talking about the stress coming from my insecurities. So yeah, my stress is a factor.

I read somewhere that oil production peeks in the afternoon, around 1pm to 2pm-ish. Can't remember where, and I don't know if that is true or not, but it seems to be the case with me.
And mine goes in cycles through the month too. At the end of my female cycle, I'm less oily than right before my period.
