Yeah I firmly believe acne is NOT in anyway caused by washing/not washing. Acne is something internal caused by genetics, hormone imbalances or excess etc. Avg. Joe may get A SINGLE zit or two when they dont wash their face for a couple of days but they don't get ACNE. Acne is a disease that is on the inside, the symptoms are just on the outside!

cystic hormonal acne?

Thank you, guys. ^^ I'm glad I'm not alone in this. xP I'm so sick of people concluding that I'm "dirty" because of my acne. And I'm bloody well sick of their assumptions and suggestions and treatments; and I'm sick of all the money I spend trying new things to manage my skin, money I could be spending on FUN stuff, rather than my damn'd face.

See? Ranting again. xD

I don't know if it's hormonal. =o You pose a good question. I just went off my period and four cysts appeared, but it's never that bad. Maybe I should check it to my cycle, but I'm on Ortho Evera...wouldn't that regulate my horomones? o.O

OMG sunshinedaydream! That is offensive. Having acne is bad enough; you didnt need her to shove it in your face. I probably wouldve taken it home with me (because I wouldnt want to be rude and stoop to her level) and then thrown it in the garbage can.

Those people who say to you youre dirty, they must be really ignorant about acne. Just because you have acne doesnt mean you dont take care of your body. Im sorry you have to go through that.

Oh, gosh, my husband means well...I'm neurotic about my "regimen" and he tries to tell me that I'm washing TOO often. He's a bath-every-couple-days sort of guy (well, not always xD) and I wash morning and night just to ensure I DO wash my face...today he made some offhand remark about how I need to stop washing so much, because he "can go a week, and not even get a zit." He tried to keep me from washing last night, too, because you know, washing my face is making it worse, or isn't helping--I love him, don't get me wrong, but I'd LOVE to see him wake up with a few cysts. He'd be less glib then, and maybe a bit more sympathetic. u.u;

He said the other day, "You might as well face it, you're going to have to deal with this the rest of your life." Thanks, dear. xP He doesn't want me on antibiotics, either.

In regards to the people trying to help my neighbor across the street, I babysit her kids. One day she is talking to my mom and is like is amy doing anything for her face. my mom says yes she sees a derm. my neighbor then goes on to give my mom a three step program and vitamins to help. i see a derm and obviously they are going to help me to get rid of this problem.

The next thing is about kids. I coach swimming and a couple days ago this girl Zoey who is eight comes up to me. Do you know you have zits on your face? I said yes. Then she goes on to say Can't you get rid of those? I said yes again and told her I was taking some medicine to help. Yes its an awkward moment for you but kids really dont know any better. I could have just avoided the question...something I have done before with kids but then they just talk to their friends about it. When I was tutoring 1st graders they all thought I had been bit by mosquitos.

Finally I'm on accutane....please let this embarresment stop...

As far as kids go I have a similar experience. Throughout most of highschool and college I coached gymnastics to kids of all ages. I remember when I was 15 one of the 4 year olds asked me "what's all that on your face?" At 15 it hurt badly, and little kids don't know anybetter but then again I was 15 so I couldn't understand that. It was my pre-makeup days so whenever someone pointed out my flaws it was pretty rough for me. When I was 20 and my acne returned I had some scarring. A 6 year old told me "i like all those purple freckles on your face" they don't know any better but it still sucks to know it's noticeable to others. And lets not get into the note that was left in my locker my freshman year of highschool...... it really does do damage to one's self-esteem and only those of us who suffer know!!

That sucks! It doesnt sound like he does know much about acne. You could tell him a little bit about it if you want to.

OK, as long as we're still sharing stories, this one came back to mind. eusa_boohoo.gif

I'm in my late 40s and still struggle a bit with deep cysts/nodules.

Anyways, when I was in my early 20's and single, I worked in a lab. I accidentally spilled some acid on one of my fingers, and got a very slight chemical burn. I went to the ER, and the most gorgeous, young dr. was the physician on duty. (Maybe he was an intern, I don't know.) I was totally enraptured!

He gently bandaged my finger (the burn was no big deal, no scars, etc.), and I kept hoping I wouldn't say anything that would make me look stupid, because I wanted to make a good impression, lol.

He wrote an antibiotic prescription so the burn wouldn't get infected. I looked up at him and thanked him. Then, he gently touched my cheek with his finger.

My heart began beating faster, and then he said,.....

"And this antibiotic will even help your face a bit."

I've tried. "Oh, your skin isn't THAT bad." Blah blah blah. He just doesn't get it. =/
