I tried this tape method thanks to you. Have been using it for about a week and seems to be working, but too early to tell. My skin is extremely smooth though.
My question to you is.....
Do you still see a lot flakes from your skin on your tape? The first time I used it the tape was covered with flakes from my skin and now I hardly get anything on it. I am doing this every other day to start.
Thanks for all of your help.

Glad you are seeing some improvement already.
Regular exfoliation is very useful to the skin - that's why so many eastern regimes include full body skin brushing to release toxins from the body (which of course is too harsh for facial skin).

Like I said in my previous posts, don't overdo the same area! The reason why you have a lot of flakiness left after just one session is because your skin needed to exfoliate badly and hasn't been doing so. If you continue gently over a few weeks, you won't get any soreness and the flakiness will lessen.
No, of course it's not good for your skin to feel sore - but If I tell people to ONLY tape once in the same area, and they do it 5 times...........well, sounds like a bit over zealous taping!!
Be gentle with your skin

I'm enjoying reading your thoughtful & courteous replies to everyone writing on this topic. When this topic started, I mentioned the tape method in my personal log. I tried it only once or twice, though. But now I'm inspired to keep doing it daily or every other day as you suggest.
A question about the lactic acid peels: You mention [b]homepeels.com but they only carry a 50% lactic acid peel, not 40%. :? Is that the one you tried? 50% seems a little strong to start out.
I found another web merchant that sells 40% lactic acid peels:
http://www.makeupart....com/lactic.htm
What do you think?
Lactic acid would probably be better than glycolic acid for my more-sensitive skin. I have lots of red marks, bumps and shallow acne scars.
Thanks,

I'm glad you are trying out the tape method - with continuous use, it really does help with all the red marks and shallow scarring.
40% or 50% won't make too much difference so I suggest you just buy the cheapest product - both suppliers I believe are good ones.
If your skin is sensitive, then lactic is by far your safest option - BUT please read the instructions carefully, normally you would only apply the lactic peel for 1 minute the first time b4 rinsing off, and only do this a maximum of once a week. You can build up the time each time you use it.
I suggest that on the day b4 and the day after doing the lactic peel, you give the tape method a days off.
Also, make sure you use a good moisteriser and a sunscreen, peeling can dry your skin out and make it very photosensitive.
Take care and enjoy!

Nanao - buffing can sometimes be a bit harsh, it's easy to overdo it. I used to use a buff puff many years ago and I guess I buffed too hard LOL!
.... and yes, it is gratifying seeing the tape catch all the flaky skin.
Now that I have been doing this for a month or so, my skin is so smooth and I don't get too many flakes on the tape anymore.
Even though my red marks are almost non exsistent now, I continue to do this as part of my daily regime because it just makes me feel so smooth.

Out of curiousity,

What do you see stuck there after you pull off the tape?!

1. You say to use a moisturiser and sunscreen but in what order after taping?
2. What factor sunscreen do you use?
3. If i do the tape method every other day to start with, do i just need to apply the moisturiser and sunscreen on the day i do the tapeing?
Thanks once again.

1. Do the taping, then use a moisteriser, then sunscreen - or just moisteriser if it has a built in sunscreen
2. In winter I use SPF 15 and in Summer 30 SPF
3. Use a Sunscreen every day and moisteriser only if you feel dry.
I get my suscreen from paulas choice www.cosmeticscop.com - it's free shipping in the US I think, but even with shipping costs to the UK, it is still excellent value and they have sunscreens for acne prone skin.
Hopeful - sorry to hear what happened, I think that is rare unless people over do it to start with. Just cover with moisteriser for now and I'm sure the scarring won't be permanent.
