Hey Maya, How are you? I've suffered from acne since I was 12 years old. I used so many products such as proactive, acnefree, glycolic acid and salicylic acid. None has worked best for me. One of the products is proactive that kind of okay. It helps me at first, but then I have to used it constantly. I cant stand it, so I stop. Now that I'm 21 years old. And still suffered from acne but not worsed than before. The thing I used to wash my face now is purpose soap bar to wash my face. Due to the past acne, it left me alot of red marks on my cheek. I have to cover it up everyday by makeup. I was hoping that the method you used as tape would work on me. I am really happy that it works on yours and some of the viewers. Could you help me out. Thank you so much.

Can anyone say whether this method is any good for rolling scars? I have rolling scars with pitts to both cheeks. I am thinking of going for fat transfer and excision. I have tried everything from co2 laser four lots and fillers and i can honestly say it was the laser that left me with rolling scars and one horrendous pit on my left cheek that wasnt there before I started laser treatment. I know this by looking at the before and after photos. Luckily I got my money back £2000 but have been battling with the left over scars for 2 years now. But I am keen to try this method if it would help to make my cheeks look smoother then I wouldnt need the fat transfer. I was quoted £900 for the lot? Any help anyone?

Hi everyone

For the past few months, I have been on many acne boards and kept 'bumping' into people talking about the benefits of using scotch tape to:
-Rid themselves of red marks and shallow scarring.
-Improve the texture of their skin

For the past couple of weeks, I have switched over to this method (instead of using glycolic or lactic acid peels) and I can tell you that it really works!!!!!! I've been using the tape on my face and my legs. I have to say that it's really making a difference. My skin is so smooth now and the red marks are fading quickly. It's strange how much dead skin actually ends up on the tape. That has to help with preventing pore clogging! Give it a month and I think you will be impressed with how effective this is.

HOW TO:

1. Wash face with normal cleanser, pat dry. (I use Carleys facial wash which has 2%BP)
2. Apply the tape to your face, smooth down and then gently and slowly pull the tape off. You just take a piece of tape off the dispenser and apply it sticky side down to your face concentrating on the areas that are the most dry or where there is scarring. Press it down firmly and then immediately peel off. You should see tons of muck on the tape when you peel it off. Repeat this with a new strip of tape on the next area, and so on until you have covered your entire face. Start by doing it 3 or 4 times a week at first and then progress to doing this daily. Do not keep repeating over the same area at first or you might get kind of pinkish and irritated looking because it really is like giving yourself a mini peel every time you do it. No need to leave the tape sitting on your skin, just apply it firmly and immediately strip it off. Works great.
3. Wipe face with toner/water.
( I then apply MSM gel or copper peptides, or you could apply Aloe Vera gel - but none of this is essential)
4. Any of you using topicals like BP, best to apply it AFTER the taping
5. Moisturise! (I use Jojoba oil)
6. Always use a sunscreen!

If you use this tape method, there is NO need to use peels as well unless you have really bad discolouration and uneveness. It will save you money!!!!!!!

What type of tape to use?

Most people recommend Scotch Crystal Clear Tape (the white, see through/invisible/transparent tape that is used for wrapping presents) but I find that any ordinary sticky tape (In the UK, we call it Sellotape) works just as well. You can buy it at any store - office/school/stationary supplies

Can you use this over active acne?
It is safe to do it over active acne, just be careful not to do it too much in those areas. In my opinion it actually helps them heal faster.

Hope this helps!! biggrin.gif

Take care
Maya

PS - word of warning - DO NOT DO THIS WHILST ON ACCUTANE - YOUR SKIN IS FAR TOO SENSITIVE

Oh my God!!!!

I did this one time on top of my nose to get clean all those big pores full of black stuff, because I couldn't spend money in those fancy smancy tapes of Biore to clear pores, and I put on some tape on my nose, ripped it, and a bunch of black heads came out. I thought, okay, that's grosse. A bunch of grease came out, even though I had just washed my face. You know what? I can't afford a peel, and I need one for my marks now that I got rid of the acne. Thanks, I will give it a try.

I have sensitive skin and I do it. I don't do it daily...maybe once or twice a week is all I need. If I feel like my skin is super sensitive on a particular day, I don't do it. Make sure you don't repeat areas or it will get irritated. Don't make the mistake of trying stronger tapes. And if you have any irritation at all, use some aloe afterwards....pure aloe, not the shit with menthol or alcohol in it. Taping makes my face super smooth.

PS - I was doing this for months before I saw this...my friends were always looking at me like I was a weirdo carrying around scotch tape in my purse. It is awesome in a pinch when the skin around my nose starts peeling.

You can save time by using clear packaging tape from your local post office.

Just kidding - DON'T DO THAT! lol.gif

This is a really cool idea. I believe I'll be giving it a try. Thank you!

I just tried it on couple of my flakey marks I had gotten from picking/scratching my pimples or trying to push out blackheads but accidently chipping some skin off. (OUCH!!)

yeah but I was left with ugly darkish red/brown marks.

Tried the tape. Pressing down on the mark with one finger then other hand holding the strip. Pulling fast.

Then I noticed on the tape was a patch of dry skin with brownish/red on them and saw the mark on my face.

Lighter pink.

Nearly fainted. I have been trying to heal the scars for three weeks now.

Thank you ;___;

maya, it seems to be working. i've recently had to find alternatives to glycolic acid and bp due to sudden hypersensitivity.
you are very patient in answering peoples questions. most people would hate me because my response would be "i'm not a derm, try it yourself or f*** off" LOL

I've been doing this for about 4 days now, morning, and night. I've seen alot of improvements in my red marks, even one's that's been there for months. This is a for sure go, jus don't go crazy taping the same area over and over, or you'll be hecka red.
