I have a question about Yasmin. In a way its off topic because its not a success. On the otherhand its still on topic because its still about Yasmin. I wasnt quite sure where to put this question, this is the first yasmin post I came across for today, and that is the reason I put it here. I was on it approximately a year ago but I dont remember on the first pack of pills do the sugar pills cause you to break out or they are still like the estrogen pills and prevent breakouts? I know the estrogen pills prevent breakouts and that is really starts to kick in about the third-sixth months

Molly my Yasmin comes in a 21 pill pack. Mine doesnt have the placebo pills but from what i know they are there for the sole purpose of helping you not forget to take the pill at the same time till the next pack. wink.gif So they are not really helping acne wise. eusa_doh.gif

Yay, congrats! Hmmm well I took my 4th pill last night, Ive got a big cyst sort of under my eye BUT I dont think this is related because a) I had a big nasty clogged pore thing there, so something was bound to come up eventually and b) Its not a hormonal place to break out. And then Ive got another cyst on the side of my nose but I think that was my own fault too for trying to extract blackheads myself sad.gif ....OTHERWISE, Its doin alright- no major mood changes, Im just irritated cause my skins being a bit of a screw-up right now. Hopefully this is that initial breakout..?

Scratch that, my skin looks absolutely disgusting right now.
I have 3 huge cysts all on different places of my face, and little red bumps and whiteheads around my mouth area...Ugh..I really want this to work, should I just wait a few months, or will it not get better..? I feel horrible right now.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I've never used birth control before.
I'm starting yasmin soon but I don't know when to start taking it. I know you're supposed to take it on the first day of your period but I don't get my period at all anymore. Does it matter what day I start if I'm using it just for my skin and not as a contraceptive?

I just remembered I heard it had bad side effects (like a lot of weight gain) for people with ginger hair if that helps anyone decide whether to take it or not. confused.gif

Hei im so sorry i really dont know what to say. I never really asked myself that, why start on the first day of your period... unless you are going to use it as a birth control. But i know that my derm said i should start it on the first day of my period. i started taking it as if it were my previous bcp, i mean not on the first day.
Im sorry i cant answer your question sad.gif
I have not experienced any side effects. wink.gif

Oh I just found out you only need to start on the first day of your period if it's for contraceptive reasons.
If you're just using it for skin it doesn't matter.

Well, it doesn't have to. A lot of women skip their placebo pills and start the next pack in order to skip a "period." You're not ovulating while you're on the pill, so the bleeding you experience is withdrawal bleeding from the hormones and not a real period. The whole marketing with Seasonale fails to mention this, but it's true. You can do a Seasonale effect with any monophasic birth control pill (I think you get breakthrough bleeding with triphasic and you might get it with an ultra low dose monophasic, think Alesse, Loestrin, etc.). All you do is start your new pack of pills when you run out of active pills. People can do it with Nuvaring too.
