I've been on the 'tane for almost two months now (first 20mg, now 40) seeing so-so results. Anyway, I'm going on vacation to the Caribbean in a few weeks and was wondering what the deal is with sun exposure while on Accutane?? Usually, sun really helps my acne, but I know with Accutane you have to be careful with everything, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks
important question about accutane

To my knowledge, accutane basically makes your skin much more sensitive to the sun. You'll be a lot quicker to burn while on it as your skin is more fragile and thin. You'll need to get yourself a really good sun protection cream and keep re-applying it often and just try to stay out of the sun as much as possible really. Have fun

Hi,
I just recently came back from a trip to Costa Rica where the sun was HOT!! It was during my 5th month on accutane on 80mg. I brought a couple hats and lots of 45 & 30 sunblock. I was SO SO pasty white and the first few days I wore 45 and was very careful about how long I was in the sun for. But, by the last couple of days I wore 30 and even down to 15 once I had more color in my arms, legs and stomach. Accutane makes your skin tan/burn a LOT faster than normal...so as long as you are careful and watch your skin and keep putting on sunblock, you should be okay. I came back with a nice tan ...no burns!
If you have any other questions let me know!! I was really nervous about going on the vacation and everything turned out really well for me. My skin was SO much better in the humid weather and wasn't nearly as dry as it usually is back home.

I was the same..... went to florida in the summer during month 3 (or 4)....... ended up in the sun for a few hours and it hurt for a day or so but then turned into a nice tan that lasted for months!
Make sure to use hats, sunscreen, etc as much as you can and pay attention to your skin! Bring aloe and lots of it too

i feel like an idiot when i wear sunblock looking all pasty. Usually I go without sunblock, burn the first day or so, and then tan and my acne fades really fast. But I'll take everyones word for it.
