Hello, my fellow malcontents.
It's been a while since I last posted, but something has recently come up that I need your help with. I'm twenty-three, on my third course of Accutane, and I just finished my 3rd month. Like most of you, I've done a good deal of reading and research, and I'm all too aware of the formula for the standard total dose over a 5-month course (120-150mg/kg). I think everyone here has come across this formula at least a thousand times. Evidently, however, my dermatologist has never heard of it. Can you believe that?! He informed me that he normally prescribes Accutane for a 4-month period, and given my dosage thus far (40mg, 40mg, 60mg) and this next month at 80mg, I will be nowhere near the standard--not even the minimum--after four months. He's relatively young, but how could he have never heard of something that's been in practice for decades? I was totally unprepared to defend my position, simply because I was at a loss for words. To his credit, though, he was receptive to any info I could provide him in the future.
Anyway, to make a long story short: I know I need at least 8 more weeks at 80mg/day to reach that plateau, because I do not want to risk a relapse. So, I need to persuade my derm to lengthen my course. Can you guys direct me to any credible, reputable websites that suggest a cumulative dose of 120-150mg/kg over 20 weeks?
If you come across any stones with the formula written on them, that would be helpful too. Maybe then he'd be a believer.

Both of these websites seem to be credible, derm-oriented
