Day 1 November 3rd, 06

Whats up everybody, my name is Ryan and today I started Isotretinoin for Acne. Im Taking Claravis because my insurance only pays for generics. I currently taking 40mg once a day till the end of this month, and then ill know what i'll be taking next month. I have had acne since the age 16 and now im 21 and its time for it "TO GO". I have been waiting for this day for awhile now. The type of acne i have is very persistant white heads through out the month and about 5 to 10 cyst a month. It is very rare for me to go a couple days with out a new acne forming. I NEED it to STOP. I already have a few shallow scars on the sides of my cheeks and hopefully Accutane can help them also. Acne is running my life and for the past three years ruining it also. I have been going to the derm for about two years now and they finally gave me this medication.
The Medications ive been on:I've tried Proactive, Murad, Herbal, Dieting right, Tetracycline, Doxycycline, Amoxicillin, Tazoric, Retina A, Tea tree Oil, countless over the counter medications and I finally trying Accutane(Hopefully the Last).

INFO ON ME- 21yr old male, Chicago, 5'10", The #1 Priority in my life is to achieve just normal clear skin and not have to worry about it anymore. I really dont go out on the weekends w/friends anymore because of Acne, Acne has almost made me lose two full scholarships i recieve form the government, one in which they pay for the my schooling and another they pay me an educational allowance monthly. The Acne i got made me not want to go to school anymore, and still does'tn- but im still in school only taking online courses and hope to return to school with a clear face and a fresh start. That is just a little of what Acne has done to my self esteem. I am a very athletic and love to play basketball and football( So i will let all the Athletes know if there is any soreness in the joints or bones)

So this is day one and i pop the pill around 6 hours ago and dont feel anything other than a little bit light headed- i have around 5 to 6 pimples a few red marks and a couple scars.

Im also going to get some Silka Camilla Oil to help with the scars during the process, if anybody has any info or would like to give me some words of incuragement on their experiences feel free to hit me up...... I' up date every couple days or so..... biggrin.gif L8ter

bro dont let acne throw your life away like that.

2nd off accutane should most likely get the job done for you. After 1 good year of highschool, my highschool was washed out in bad memories. I ended it miserably, my last 2 yrs especially my last yr was awful, and the worst time of my life. I took accutane from the middle of my senior yr to the end of it and into the 1st week of summer. I figured my senior yr is ruined anyway (not all because of acne, but acne did at times play a major role) so why not start college better? I took accutane, and although I started college on the wrong attitude, I started with clear skin and left acne behind. Im currently 1 month away from completing my 1st semester, and 4 months post tane, and acne has not come with me to college.

I'm going to a club in NYC next weekend with a couple friends which is new to me cause im normally boring and dont do things like that ever, and im also going for another job, and acne was the only thing that could of gotten to me, now its gone, so it wont be there to plague me at that club or on that job interview. Last yr I only called out of work 3 times, and all 3 times were because of acne. When I was sick I came in to work, but when my acne got bad and i was too upset over it to work, i called out.(3times)

Thanks alot for the support, thats cool that the accutane work for you, I know it will work for me, i her ya about all that stuff during highschool, my first year was good also, and after that it was down hill untill my senior year of highschool it got much better, but after highschool, it came back again on and off, until now- were it started to scar a little- thats why i started accutane, it must a felt weird when you got clear, not having to worry about acne and just focusing on school and having fun---- trust me, i am very happy to be on this medications and i know i turn out just fine. ya i use to call off work and ditch school when i had flare ups. Seems like we were in the same boat.
P.S. Have fun on the weekend

thanx...

well it took me a while to enjoy clear skin. like right when i finished accutane, i still noticed red spots on my face that looked bad. i dint care about acne anymore because i was jus so releived to be done with accutane, but i would still shake my head and think c'mon gimme a break when looking in the mirror.
But i'd say after finishing tane i wasn't worried and didn't care about acne anymore. And i'd say about 3 months after accutane, i was happy with my skin again. right now my skin is good and acne is finished for me atleast for today. if my acne comes back in the future i'll wory about it then, however im not ever going to use anything for acne again, im finished with the battle.

accutane was a quick but grueling 5 months for me (time really did fly), and even though i dint care about acne anymore after tane, it took me about another 3 months after tane to realize i had good skin. but hey, be patient, it took time to do its thing for me.. but for me, just think a yr ago my skin was bad and who could of thought in just a yr my skin would make a complete turn around. but it did. Accutane will do its thing for you, who knows if it will be quick or not, but be patients. A yr from today you will have clear skin, and will have had clear skin for the past few months leading up to that day as well.

Overall the first week i noticed my skin becoming very dry- i got chap lips right now because i dont got any moisterisers but i will get some either today or tomorrow. The acne on my face is on its same course as always. Their has been one thing i have noticed- i got a very large pimple on my bicep that form into a white head and has left a big mark. Hopefully when this is all over i can read this and smile and say it was an experience that had to be done.

Day 14 Week Two over

Alright My skin is still dry. I believe im starting my IB, i got one large cyst on my right cheek near my nose, and i got another regular one also. Im puting Neosporin CREAM on them to help heal them up. Still i am not having any other side affects other than i seem to be more irratable sometimes, and lash out at my younger brother and sister, but more often then not they deserve it. lol

Hey Ryan, Good luck on your course biggrin.gif

I started getting my IB around day 14 also, it'll be over before you know it, and Accutane seems to always take care of the cysts over night or the next day. Don't get discouraged wink.gif hang in there!

Day 20

I got Silkia camillia oil in the mail yesterday and what i can tell you is that it is a great moisterizer and it helps with the red marks, it doest'nt make u break out and it helps with indented scars. So im gonna use this along with accutane and hope it works like i heard from many users.

Day 21

alright skin seems to be better from last week......... Alright some other side affects ive been having. I feel more soreness in my joints but i would say i would be more acceptable towards that than almost everyone on this board. I got some soreness in my left ankle and my right shoulder. I injured them both about a week before taking tane, but i had these injuries before and they never took this long for then to heal and not hurt this long. Her just goes a list of the bones i broke and places i injured myself pretty badly: I broke my coller bone; fractured both ankles more than once;Fractured 2 fingers;tore acl ligaments; cut one of the ligaments of my ring finger and dislocated shoulder - my body is a mess with past injuries...so lets see if the tane will affect any other areas. The accutane just makes me feel like i just got done playing 1000 games a football everyday- when i havent played a sport in a month, but its all worth it.

Day 29 Start of week 5

Alot of good things have happen since day one. First of im happy im on to month 2 eusa_dance.gif I did have the initial breakout but it wasnt that bad just about one bad week and thats all. I dont see any chance of scaring. i do only got one red mark left from the cyst i got. I have had some small pimple since the ib. but it literly comes and goes in 24 hrs no b.s. I do still got really chap lips, sore joints, and dry skin. But thats all!!! Everything is worth clear skin. I dont have a single pimple on my face right now, i use to call these days the goodtime of the month-but i always new i would wake up in a day or to with new pimples on my face but lets hope i can post next week with the same results. I have had comments from family and friends that my skin looks better even with a 3 day scuff w/out shaving. So that always helps a person confindance. IF ANY BODY READING THIS HAS JUST STARTED ACCUTANE OR ARE THINKING ABOUT IT... DO IT. Because many people say that first month is the hardest, in which it probably is but i just told you the honest truth in witch happen to me. Also within the last week, my face was very very very dry and i had all the white heads come out of my nose and my nose felt like sand paper for like a week, but today it is all smooth and clear. If you are about to start accutane i would say this is the best time to start it. YOu will be clear by summer, you' probably have a little ib by winter vacation during the worst days so you will be close with family and close friends and they already love you for the person u are, lets hope its all up hill from here. Now im gonna take my sore ass a bath, to help the achey joints......lol
