nice short and sweet...

only works on mild - some moderate acne.

cystic or large inflamed acne you can forget about it. maybe it help a little but you wont notice a thing.

back to the mild - moderate you will see a reduction after a day or so. but the way i used it is this...

10 minutes of the red, then 10 minutes of the blue (day and night)

with that i have seen positive result and a good spot treatment.

if anyone want to add advice to using the lumiport please keep this thread alive.

Matter of interest, how long have you been using it for?

Blue light therapy takes 6-8 weeks to start decreasing the colony of bacteria. Let us know how it's going in a month or so, anything else is just misleading, and an unfair representation of the product.

To be strictly accurate, the bacteria is basically dead in about a week (same as with oral antibiotics- although tetracyclines don't kill it, they just immobilise it, but it's much the same). The blue light is very good at doing the bacteria in.

It normally takes 6 weeks for any visible improvement though; a lot of acne seems to be due to disturbances in the skin's growth by the bacteria. That takes 6-12 weeks or even more than that to sort itself out.

In fact, that's probably true of all the good acne treatments; if anyone ever says that treatment X can cure your acne in a week- laugh and walk away from the con man.

ok, im a 17 year old male who has a LOT of acne. Have you guys watched starship troopers? I have little acne (the bugs) and occasional big acne (the flamethrower bug thing). I have used a LOT of products online, You name it, over-the-counter products. Everything. And i used them consistantly too, i'm not a lazy person when it comes to trying to get rid of my acne. This is the first time I actually heard of a light treatment for acne while i was searching for more products on google. Since i bought so many products and they only made my acne stay the same at best, I was realll hesitant on buying the dermastyle. I was saving up for a laptop for college so buying something for around a 150$ didn't interest me. However, I just bought this cuz my conscience just told me. Anyways, I bought this at the dermastyle website, chose the SLOWEST shipment method to save money. It arrived the next day at around noon. I was like, WOW, did they give me overnight shipping or something? anyways, the first day i was real excited to try this out. So i did like an hour of just pure dermastyle. Since the website said it worked for most ppl in 24 hours, i was real excited to get results. The next day, my acne stayed the same. in fact, i got some more pimples along my NECK!! i was so angry, however, i tried this again the second day. NO results again. And the third day, and the fourth. HOWEVER, on the 7th day i used this. ALL MY LITTLE BUG ACNE turned flat!! and all the flamethrower bug things turned to little bug acne! This is when i started to get real excited. I kept using it for couple more days. I still have some scars on my face from my previous acne, but hey, i just rub my forehead, cheeks, etc. NO BUMPS WOOT!!. I'm sure my scars will be treated shortly if i keep using this. Oh, and for people who don't seem to know how to use this product, this is what i do. I bought just a cheap over-the-counter facial cleanser so that when i use this product, my face won't be oily. Then I do four, 10 minute sessions (yes, it is long, but worth it) 10 min for my forehead, 10 min for both cheeks, 10 min for my nose and chin, and 10 min for my jawline and neck. I move the pen in circular motions, big circles. The instruction manual says you can use both touching your skin or not. I dont let the thing touch my skin cuz i dont want it to get dirty. Plus, if you dont let it touch your skin, more light covers the face, so that's a good thing. O, and i use the combined blue and red light. I tried just the blue and just the red, but it seems to work very slowly. Anyways, I'm not writing this review just to keep this forum going positively. It's just a product that finally worked. For people buying this product, if you dont see results like right away, just keep using it. When i first used this product, my acne looked like it was getting worse than better. But after 7 days, FLAT smooth skin, even though scars were still there from previous acne. Another good thing about this product, FAST CHARGING, just plug it in for about 30 min and boom, good as new. And i tested this product out and i can do like ten, 10 min sessions. (the thing turns off every 10 min so that's the way i use to keep track of time.) 30 min charging for 100 min use. NOT a bad trade-off. To know where i am pointing my dermastyle, i use the mirror that is in the case that comes with the product. Doing 40 min a day can be tiring. and this product is hard to do in front of a tv, etc, IF YOU HAVE ACNE everywhere like me, since you gotta be pointing the light everywhere around your face and this requires a mirror to see what you are doing. ALSO, THIS WORKS ON BODY ACNE!! I have a little bit of chest acne, and shoulder and back acne. I cant reach my back with ease so i just shine this thing on my chest, it works just like how it works with the face. I'm planning on removing my back acne through body scrubs (from neutrogena) and a Loofah i just ordered. I'm realllly excited to see my acne go AWAY!! Anyways, I don't really mind the 154$ (including shipping) I spent cuz this product will come in handy right now, and later in life for emergency (lets say you or your fiancee gets a zit right before your wedding day, lol). Anyways, thank you lumiport, I also managed to buy my laptop and have money left over, so I am reallllly happy this summer. I hope to get rid of all my scars before I go to college so that I can have a clean face people can look at. THANK YOU LUMIPORT, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

I suppose I should enter this thread since some time has passed..
I had great luck using it to spot treat. Was a good tester to see if light would work for me.
Bought a beautyskin for full face..Between the two, & using this board plus research for products...I'm finally clear.
Best wishes to all who suffer.

Wow I should really try this, I'm afraid to fork over hundreds of dollars though. Sigh. I can't believe after being clear for 5 years after Accutane, I'd have a re-occurrence and be back to acne. sad.gif *cries*

I'm so sorry to hear that. sad.gif

I was on accutane three times over the years to no avail.

Perhaps you could try it the way I did it? Fork over a bit of cash and try the Lumiport? The beautyskin has a return policy on it so you can try it and decide.

I was able to tell that it would work for me when it helped reduce inflammation, & made a noticable difference in the amount of time the lesion hung out on my face.

It took at least five or six weeks for me to know absolutely that I was slowly winning this battle, though it does help out quickly, it still takes time.... ( I still, & most likely will always have problem skin)

I used topicals in conjunction with the lights. Most notably, mandelic acid, & 2% salicylic acid. If you're oily go for liquids and serums over lotions and creams. Exfol serum, & Paula's Choice 2% BHA liquid are very good choices...

Truly, I hope something in my post can help you out! Best wishes! biggrin.gif

Just thought I'd chime in, too. I never had a problem with acne until about the age of 35 (after going off of the pill) - and then it was cystic and just really irritated all of the time. In the past 5 years I've tried everything except accutane - numerous antibiotics, medicated washes and creams, differin, retin-a and lasers. I'm not discounting the more traditional remedies - I'm still on antibiotics (although I'm considering trying to discontinue them) and I still use clenia daily and retin-a about 2x per week. However, since I started using the Beautyskin (on 5/5/07) the difference in my skin is amazing. At about the 8 week mark it seemed like someone had flipped a switch. The inflammation and angry redness are gone - I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Mostly all I have left is some post inflammatory pigmentation in a spot about the size of a half dollar. It really seems to have evened out the color and tone of my skin and oil production is way down. I haven't had any new breakouts since about the 2-3 week mark of using it. Even the scarring doesn't seem to look as bad - probably due to the decreased inflammation and even color. I really wish I had found it sooner. It makes me extremely mad that something that works for so many people is available for a lower cost than most prescriptions and other procedures with no known side affects and that you have to research your butt off to find out about it. Not that I'm completely past the age of vanity, but it really breaks my heart that it's not a first treatment of choice for younger people that wouldn't have to deal with scarring at such a vulnerable time. I guess there's just not enough money to be made without repeat visits and prescription refills. Call me cynical.

There was another gentleman on here quite some time ago that posted pictures, etc. Stanno, I think.

Like Dee, I bought the lumiport first as a test device, too and was pretty impressed with it. Once I saw that it worked though, I wanted to be able to treat my whole face at once in a decent amount of time. If funds are an issue, I'd try to scrape up the cash for the beautyskin and if it doesn't work, you can always send it back for a refund within the 90 days. If you go for that option, definately give it a good 2 months at least. The lumiport does work, but if you have more than 2 or 3 areas to treat, time will quickly become an issue. There's also the issue of treating the outbreak after it starts rather than treating the whole area and preventing the outbreak to begin with.

Best of luck to you.
