I started on 10.10.06, so today is day seven...

The first couple days I got the Benzoyl Peroxide wayyyy too close to my eyes, so I had a few days of burning and my eyelids got really red and sore. I only have one or two pimples at any time above my cheek bones, so I'm just not going to worry about those two.

I started the Regimen because I've been dealing with acne since I was about 15, and I'm 22 now. It was really bad when I was 16-19 years old, and during that time I tried many prescription and over-the-counter medications that did nothing for me. The acne got better when I was 20, and I only had one or two pimples if any, but that only lasted about 8 months until it started coming back.

I thought I would just wait it out, because everything I try fails, and I was pretty sure the ladies were turned off by my somewhat introverted personality rather than my ugly lumpy face lol.gif I could talk to girls and get them to go out with me on a date or two, but nothing ever came from it... So, naturally, I looked back to when my face looked good. I realized that when my face was clear, I not only LOOKED better but I FELT better also. I was bursting with confidence, had a smile for everyone, and a positive outlook on life. When my face is covered in acne (though I admit it's not NEARLY as bad as some of the cases I've seen in the gallery) it's like a chore to smile, I don't really feel like talking to people unless I force myself or I'm in a dark club or something, and everything just pretty much seems lousy with my life...

SO, I'm giving the Regimen a shot. I've noticed I have gained a lot more acne on my face in the last seven days, but I'm pretty excited about that. I take getting more pimples to mean the Regimen is starting to do it's work!

I'm pretty excited looking through the photo gallery. There are so many albums of people who had acne so much worse than I could even dream of, and the Regimen has worked wonders for them, so I can't wait to see what it can do for MY face!

Here's my before pic: (Sorry, it's a bad picture, and I only got one angle)

Hi and welcome!
Your acne seems to be mostly around your chin area. Do you think it is shaving related like Dan's? What razor do you use?

Overall, your acne looks very mild, the Regimen should really help.
Good luck and holler if you need any help or have any questions!

Oh wait! I just noticed in your signature you are using a 10% benzoyl peroxide. Can you get a 2.5% or 5%? They will be much nicer on your skin and every bit as effective as the higher percentage. Just less redness and irritation!
There is Neutrogena on-the-spot that is readily available in most drugstores, and Dan has his own 2.5% bp at www.clearskinregimen.com

Good luck with the regimen. biggrin.gif There are going to be rough times ahead, but STICK TO IT! You're acne looks like it will react very well to the CSR.

confused.gif Yikes! I noticed you are using the 10% BP. I think the trick (at least it has worked for me) is to use the lower strength 2.5%-but coat it on and let is soak in...reapply... then moistuize. I also used the 10% before I found Dan's site for CSR. I thought the stronger the stuff the better. WRONG I was! My face isn't nearly as oily now using the 2.5%! In fact is normalizing and is almost clear...just a few small small small ones. Dan sells all of the CSR products really reasonable. I have his BP. I am in week 4 or so. But my advice to you is to use Cetaphil cleanser or something like it---I buy generic Walmart brand---use fingers only to wash and pat face dry. I used to scrub and irritate my skin not knowing any better. I never knew that acne could be just my face being sensitive. Then I use Clean and Clear sensitive skin formula astringent (this isn't in Dan's program but I like it). Then at night I moisturize alot with Cetaphil moisturizer. I am serious when I say I have not had skin this clear in forever and a day! Keep us posted. Good luck and remember to be really gentle with your skin. Have you seen all of Dan's recommendations???

I also wouldn't use any cologne or aftershave on your face...check with Dan's site on shaving etc...

Thanks guys... I looked for something less than 10%, but I kinda felt weird standing in the "girly" section at Wal-Mart... I looked at almost all of the BP products I saw, and only seemed to be getting 10% or 5%...

I also thought the higher percentage would be better... I have two bottles of the 10%, so I guess I'll see how it goes for a few weeks at 10%.

I use an electric shaver, I got tired of slicing my face every day, especially when I'm running late and have to shave in a hurry... I get slightly less irritation with the electric over any blade I've tried, but still seem to have a problem with it no matter what.

I've been noticing the last couple days, especially today after I wrote this since I was really thinking about it, that the skin on the lower part of my face where I'm applying the BP is starting to feel different. Not quite so oily, and more soft I guess... Probably from all the lotion I've been using smile.gif

Any other tips I could try would be appreciated. I'll definately see if I can find some lower strength BP or buy Dan's products.

Thanks!

The Neutrogena 2.5 % is in the "acne" section. Check Dan's products...much much cheaper for the size/money...

I just want to add, it's kinda cool how tight my skin feels after putting BP on it and before the moisturizer... Strange feeling, but it makes moving my head and face a unique experience...

Man... My face feels great, but it's so red people are thinking I'm sunburned... Perhaps I should just cut my losses on the second bottle of 10% BP and find something less intense... I don't mind looking sunburned, but I have to wonder what it's doing to my face if it's just red all the time.
