I suppose it might help ... aspirin is an anti-inflammatory as well. But I suspect that Advil is more effective than aspirin .... and I find Aleve more effective than Advil.
I'm taking it again this week, and it is DEFINITELY working. I started as soon as the first tiny zits popped up, and 24 hours later they'd all gone down again.
BTW, I take EFAs daily ... they are definitely great for my skin, and I see a huge difference when I'm taking them. But I would still get the PMS pimples if it weren't for Aleve.
I cannot even take advil. It gives me stomach ulcers, diarrhea with tons of blood. Sorry tmi

Last time I did the aspirin mask for a few days in a row, and my stomach continuously hurt for a few days afterwards.

3-4 days before my period, 2x daily works well for me. You don't want to take it any longer than you have to.
I can't see any reason why the aspirin mask would make your stomach hurt ..... probably coincidence. Cramps, maybe?

ok, thanks,
I don't know... Every time I do the aspirin mask for a few days in a row, my stomach hurts a little (and I've tried it 4-5 times), but the last time, it hurt a lot! I don't think it's coincidence.

really? I did a mask every day for about a month and felt fine. I'll now cut it down to once a week or twice depending if I feel more red than usual.

yeah, I get mid-cycle breakouts too .... not as bad as PMS but still annoying!
I'd start taking it around day 13 and keep it up for the better part of the week.

I break out sometime the week before my period --- but this last month I took an Aleve in the morning and one at night the week before my period and I still broke out pretty bad on my chin. Didn't seem to do anything for inflammation either. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately ..... not really. The maximum dosage is 3 per day ... you wouldn't want to exceed that! Maybe it just doesn't work for you.
I've been told that ginger root is a highly potent anti-inflammatory, with no nasty side effects. You might try adding a chunk of it to a daily smoothie next time around and see how that works ....

i'm inspired by the success some of you have had with the Aleve and just ran to my medicine cabinet to take one - my period will come end of next week and in the past 3 days i've gotten a bunch of the big zits around my nose and chin that are "normal" for me. does the Aleve help shrink existing pimples or just prevent new ones?
thanks in advance!

I find that it reduces the inflammation in existing pimples as well ....
how did things work out for you?
Lorrie: good luck! Let us know how it goes.
