My skin is pretty dry today, not flakey though.. I have a new whitehead on my chin and another new pimple that I just discovered. It's on a part of my face that I cant see in the mirror, I just felt it today, so I don't know how long it's been there. it's right below my ear like behind my jawline. other than that things are pretty mych the same, dry lips, but not too dry. Very dry mouth and dry hair. My right eye was bothering me the other day but I used some drops and it's fine.

GRRR! I think I'm having an IB luckily though, it seems very mild ::knock on wood:: I just have lot's of clogged pores and tiny white heads, you can barely see them. I also have one bigger pimple on my right cheek and three tiny red ones above my lip. Also, the pores on my nose seem bigger or more noticeable. hopefully this won't last too long. I'm still on an antibiotic so it shouldn't be too severe. I'm going to start using Cleocin T twice a day again. Does anyone know if it's ok to exfoliate while on accutane? if so what should I use?
my lips are kind of dry today, but no other side effects.

I am not too sure about the exfoliating thing. I avoid exfoliating altogether b/c I would always break out without fail within 2 days of exfoliating.
My side effects are so minimal it's crazy. Where'd my annoying chapped lips go??? Although I must say I was not oily at all today and it was great!!!

DAY 20
I just finished my third box of Accutane. I had a couple small pimples yesterday but they're gone now. and i still have a few that are taking forever to go away. yesterday my lips got pretty dry but i put a big layer of aquaphor on overnight and there better today. my skin is a little flakey and flushed but it's not too bad. i have one pimple on my chin that looks pretty bad, all dry and crusty. So hopefully it will be gone soon. I can't believe how quickly this is going. I'm already done with three boxes. and my first derm appointment since i started accutane is next week.

Three weeks down. I got two pustuals on my right cheek last night and this morning they looked huge and disgusting but, after my shower they went away for some reason. now there just small and red. I have to say my skin is looking a lot better. I'm not talking about since starting accutane but since a few months ago. Last night I saw a picture of myself from prom last year and I couldn't believe how broken out I was. My skin is pretty flakey today though.
I could barely sleep at all last night and I have no Idea why. I guess it could be from the accutane but this was the first night it happened since I started taking it. I think it was most likely because of stress though.

Hello my lovelies.
today my skin is looking so good. still a lot of big pores/blackheads on my nose but they're not too noticeable. I didn't get any blackheads on my nose until i started accutane.
no new pimples today and my skin just looks a lot smoother and more even. also it's not flaking. lips are a little dry. things are looking up and hopefully my skin will just get better and better from here.

Skin is still looking pretty good. and the only side effect is dryness. I can tell my skin is purging especially around my chin and nose area. it feels very rough, but no actual acne. currently I have only about 2 tiny pimples on my chin that seem to flare up a bit then go away. I also have a small nodule on my left cheek right by my eye. It's been there since before I started accutane and is very stubborn. I think I'm going to get through this with no real IB (knock on wood) I am definitely getting fewer pimples now than before I started accutane. So far my experience has been very positive.
However Accutane is always on my mind. Whenever I get free time I immediately go to this website.I also have to stop going to these anti accutane websites. I go on there and read all the bad stuff that can happen while taking accutane, it scares me a little bit but, I'll know if i start to feel like something isn't right so I'm not too worried.

well, yesterday I got a new pimple on my forehead. It's not to big or anything but, i haven't broken out there in a while. my nose is still very rough and full of blackheads, and my skin is a little dry and flakey. I used the Proactiv sulfur mask overnight on two of my pimples. I know it's really drying but I think it's ok to use as a spot treatment.
I got my first nosebleed since starting accutane this morning. it was mild, not gushing or anything. So I put some aquaphor in my nose and it seems to help, but it feels really strange. Lips are still dry, no othr side effects.
I'm thinking of taking less cephalexin. maybe go down to twice a day. I'm on a high dose and maybe I don't need to take it as much anymore now that I'm on accutane. I'm kind of afraid to stop though because I don't want my acne to get worse again. My next derm appointment is saturday so, I'll ask her then if i should stop or take less Ceph.

The Zetas upstairs were having a party last night and I really wanted to drink but I resisted. I decided I'm not going to have a drop of alcohol for the 26 weeks I'm on accutane.
Are you not supposed to drink while on Accutane? I have not seen that mentioned in any of the liturature (and they do give you a lot!).
You all have me a bit wigged out since I do have wine with dinner every night

Your not really supposed to. because it can (in some patients.) effect your liver function, drinking in moderation is generally ok on accutane for most people, just don't over do it. I wasn't able to follow my no drinking rule.

Thanks for the warning, though. I'm amazed they didn't say anything to me at my doctor's office.

OK, good. I'll just keep it to a glass a night. Sometimes I have more on the weekends. Martinis are out since they contain like 3 shots.

they didn't at mine either. I guess I'm not supposed to be drinking anyway though since I'm 19, but it's not like I go out and get drunk every night. I don't think a drink every now and then will hurt.

I just finished my fourth box of accutane! It's going really quickly. my skin is looking good today. no new pimples and a lot smoother/more even. Especially my nose, it was so rough a few days ago. I've been getting about 2 small pimples a week or less which for me is good. i used to get at least 6 a week before. the only side effect today is dry lips. also I took a 3 hour nap but, I don't know if it's because of the accutane. I took naps all the time even before I started accutane.
My next derm appointment is on saturday. I think she'll probably have me continue with the current dose, it seems to be working out well for me.

Hey man.. nice to see you're not getting any huge pimples. I've been getting some big suckers. But now they're all in places that have always been my trouble spots (jawline, cheeks) so hopefully this is the big purge and I can be done with the breaking out soon. I start my increased dosage on Monday.. 80 mg during the week, 40 mg on the weekends. So that comes out to about 68 mg/day. Well I am so happy you're doing so well. I can't wait to be able to say that.

I had a breakout. It's not too bad. two small pustules on my chin and one on each of my cheeks. so right now my face looks about the same as it did before I started accutane.

I just wrote in my log that I am posting pics for my "month 1 done" tomorrow. I also just wrote that my skin looks worse than it did when I started. So don't worry, it's normal.
