Hello, new here. smile.gif

Just thought i'd post a log of my process. My doctor prescribed me to use Eryacne Gel in the mornings, and Differin Cream in the nights, every morning/night.

About my acne..
I started to get Acne about 2 years ago, but it started to get fairly bad about a year ago. I have only a few on my forehead (knock on wood), but alot on my cheeks and chin. There are quite alot of scars (rolling I think) due to picking over the past few months/year.

I'll post an update every few days on my progress.

Hope it works.. biggrin.gif

Day 3:

The pimples/acne seem to be coming alot more now - must mean that the cream/gel is working. Alot seem to be 'dead' pimples, and they fall off when I wash my face - sweeet.

So far so good.

My face doesn't burn when I use the gel or cream, but my face is becoming pretty dry at times.

Would it be fine to just use some lotion that is 'non-comedogenic' for dryness? Or is there any lotions that people would recommend?

Hi,

Good luck with your regimen! A moisturizer should be fine. There are several that people seem to like on these messagboards, so you might do a search to get some suggestions. I used to use Neutrogena's sensitive skin moisturizer. It worked well, and didn't break me out. The only downside is that it doesn't have any sunscreen in it. There is another neutrogena one I liked as well that does have SPF (the one that comes in their kit for acne prone skin? I think the line is called Advanced Solutions). I don't know if they sell the moisturizer separately from the rest of the set though.

Thanks for the reply smile.gif

I've just being using some 'Aveno' (the brand) lotion. It moisturises really well, instantly stopping the irritation from the Eryacne. I'll have another search on the forums, see what others have used, and what i'm able to get my hands on to.

Anyway..

Day 6:
Outbreaks of bigger pimples are 90% less smile.gif - although I get little ones coming up, but they are usually gone by the next day. Really seems to be working well. One thing I really dislike is the burning. When I wash my face in the morning (showering) - moments after, my face really really burns, until I dry it off. The effects of it can be seen too, after I apply the Eryacne in the morning, about 10 minutes later, my face is just dry, and really irritated. (not liking it - but in the end - its worth it)

So far so good.

Day 9:

Uggh, a bunch of new outbreaks. (came up on day 7)

They seem to be fading a little, and drying up though, which is at least a good thing. Some of the other pimples have faded away more at least. smile.gif

The Eryacne doesn't really seem to be irritating my skin as much anymore, which is great!

Day 11:

On day 9 - after my post, I counted the new out breaks to be 11. Alot of them were really small ones, just little white dots. Now, on day 11, there are only 5 of them left, and all of the others just fell out when I washed my face, so hopefully (knock on wood) the others will soon disappear.

My face doesn't seem to be as dry now as it used too, and the irritation is getting less every few days. Maybe i'm not putting on enough. Need to check that.

Day 13:

Almost all the outbreaks from 4 days ago have now gone, although redness is starting to become more obvious which really sucks. My skin is becomming really shiny after my showers in the morning, alot more than it used to be, and thats even before I apply the Eyracne.

I think i'm going to need to change my lotions. I hate this lotion that is a "blemish fader" and it doesn't clog pores and make my skin oily throughout the day. So i'll try using that again and see if it helps any.

(wow - my posts are short compared to others tongue.gif)

Day 16:

Seem to be making more progress - over 2 weeks of use.

Over the 2 weeks my skin has smoothened out significantly and alot of the bigger pimples I used to have before have all gone, and no new ones have came up since a few days after I started its use.

No new outbreaks for the past few days. The redness seems to be fading a little but some of the pores look fairly ugly, probably turning into black heads. Hopefully I can exfloiate and they'll disappear in a few days.

Day 27:

Some fading of redness alot less new outbreak, like around 2-3 new ones. The Gel + Cream is still drying out my skin alot and the lotion doesn't really seem to work well with keeping it moisturised.

Scars are very slowly fading, so the Aloe Vera gel must be working... smile.gif

Day 36:

Over the past few days there has only been a few new outbreaks and some of the older whiteheads on my Chin and Cheeks have faded down significantly.

Here are some pictures of my Cheeks. They are quite red/pink which really sucks.

[ Right Cheek ]

I've started to use the Aloe Vera (pure) every day now, and i'll post some more shots in a few days to show if there is an improvement from it or not.

Day 520 (or so) lol:

I just decided to post back in this topic as I never did continue writing about how my skin was going. My skin did clear alot during that time and quite a few people I know noticed the changes but I still did have constant breakouts just instead lasting for shorter periods and having less pimples appearing.

Last year (around September) my skin started to get bad again (not to the extent of the first pictures) but still lots of pimples appearing and redness on my face. To help improve it I went to the doctor and he gave me 5x prescriptions for this antibiotic (lasted about a month) as well as differin and isotrex. I used all these antibiotics and creams/gels for about 3 months and eventually I only broke out once every fortnight or so and during those breakouts only 1-3 or so pimples would appear, usually gone in 2 days. Stupidly though I stopped this after 3 months because I was short on cash so I couldn't get more of the antibiotic but my face kept clear for at least another 6 weeks. After tha tit started to deteriorate again and the redness started to come back.

So far this year I haven't really been taking any non-natural treatments for my skin instead just trying to eat more healthier. Trying to sustain this for extended periods is usually hard because of the unrealistic diet I set and also the items I cut from my diet.

I'm certain that my acne is related to a "dirty system" so I really want to try clean it with a detox or whatever. Two things I have been trying though in the past 2 weeks is having 3-4 tablespoons of ACV every night as a detox as well as a cup of green tea with lemon. Lemon apparently works well as a detox but accompanied with green tea it significantly improves the benefits of drinking the tea. I'll have to wait a month or 2 to see if there is any improvements although some have said after a month of the ACV they've had good improvements of their skin.

[Sorry for bad structure/grammar if you notice some]
