Thanks for replying. I think I will go ahead and up my dose to 75mg tomorrow and see if that helps at all. I will post an update in a few days if I see any improvement.

Tired of Waiting: So I just took my first dose of 75mg today and I don't seem to be experiencing any negative side effects thus far. I really hope my derm doesn't reprimand me for upping my dosage by myself - guess I'll find out in October....How is it going for you?

Tired of Waiting:
AS far as upping the dose, it's been written that the dose of spiro is between 50-200 mg/ day in one or divided doses. My doc had me start at 50 mg once a day, go up to 50 twice a day, then to where I am now at 100mg in the AM and 50mg at night. If you drink plenty of water and take the pills with food, you should be just fine. Each 2-3 days is when I would up the dose more. just fyi,

So this is second day of my upped dosage of spiro - thus far I am not impressed with my skin. This morning I woke up with TWO new cysts and about ten tiny pimples. What the hell is going on here? I feel like this reaction isn't normal. I know that I just need to stick with it for longer to give it a chance to kick in but my skin has seriously never been this bad before and it is really hard sticking to a regimen that appears to be doing more damage than good. How do you convince yourself to stay with a treatment when there is no guarantee of it even working in the long run???

hey ladies,
I was just prescribed spiro by my new derm yesterday, officially started TODAY. I'm kind of scared, but thought I might as well give it try before I resort to the tane. My break outs are usually on my cheeks, it's so depressing. I've been on tane before but didn't keep up w/my course since it cleared me 3weeks into it on only 10mg!@!@!@! WOW WOW! I'll keep yall posted

I am 41 years old and went off of Yasmin. As a result, my skin broke out worse than when I was a teenager! I was very depressed and went to a new derm. He immediately put me on .25 Spiro. It's been 5 weeks and it's been a miracle. My skin is not perfect, but I am very, very pleased. I haven't had any side effects at all and hope to stay on this low dose. I have also been using the Obagi product line, replacing the Retin A with Tazorac. Overall, great results!!
