Hmmm... hey guys... people DID get acne before the 20th century you know (though maybe not as many people as do now)... They also got cancer. Just didn't know as much about it

Therefore, healthy food, restful sleep, adequate exercise, and a stress-free lifestyle can only help you.
Amen. Even though I haven't been living very healthy the past six months or so, I definitely should be.

As for the drug company argument, I believe that the industry preys on people's needs and desires simply to turn a profit. They will say or do anything to get your money. Like Robert Frost once said, "The art of life is passing losses on." Do you think a drug company is capable of caring about people? Get real.
You'll get no argument from me on that. My contention is with the conspiracy claim that the entire medical establishment is out to suppress research that suggest any ailment can be treated by means other than medication. Personally, I think we're already seeing a shift away from treatment with medication to an emphasis on general wellness because the proliferation of obesity and diabetes (diseases that absolutely no one denies have a correlation with diet) is costing insurance providers an awful lot of money, not to mention the general burden it place on the entire economy. Remember, insurance companies have just as powerful a lobby as pharmaceutical companies do, and they have a great incentive not to see people needing post-symptom treatment so they don't have to pay for it. Even when special interests are running the show, so long as they don't all have the same interest, things tend to work out in the long run.

In closing, I would say question everything and everyone, if they have something to gain from helping you, they probably aren't trying to help you.
Well, I do think that is a little cynical. I would even go so far as to say that anyone that has something to gain from helping you has an added incentive to actually help you.
I think it's a combination of how we eat and what we eat...but more so of how we eat. There are plenty of debates as to high GI foods/GL foods linked to acne. For some casein, the protein found in milk, causes acne and gluten, the protein found in some grains like wheat, spelt, etc., causes acne for some.
Any idea on the acne rates in southeast Asia and India? They tend to eat a heavily grain-rich diet. Wheat is a major staple in rural India especially.
