Hi everybody, just took my first 10mg pill today and will continue the course with 10mg for a month and maybe bump it up to 20mg a day.
My acne is very mild: like alot of ppl here I tried alot of stuff without success for 12 years (I'm 24 right now). But the main reason for accutane is, that I got alot of scars the last 6 months. So I finally decided to take accutane to prevent further scarring. But I'm really afraid of this drug: I hope I won't get an IB cuz my overall complexion is fairly good right now. And some of the sideeffects are really serious:
I don't feel like losing my hair or getting dark circles around the eyes. These are the main reasons for the low dose. I just hope and pray for the best.

Day 1: 10mg

Skin:
I have 2 active spots above my right eyebrow on my forehead. 1 little bump and 1 healing spot (scab) on each side of my cheek. In addition: I got alot of brownmarks on my cheeks and 1-2 on my forehead. My chin is 100% clear.

Side Effects:
I took my first 10mg pill 2 hours ago so there is really nothing to report.[b]

hey planlos,
As I started I felt the same way about the side effects and all this stuff. I was also scared about what will happen etc. But I'm now in my 5 month and I've to say its not as bad as I thought. Sure the dehydration is nasty but its nothing you can't handle with the right products! So don't worry too much! I think things will work out fine for you... wink.gif

Btw what's the deal with your nickname?? eusa_think.gif I'm from germany and planlos is the german word for aimless..hehe..but I don't think your aimless.. lol.gif

Good Luck!

Dark circles under your eyes? Is that another side effect I haven't heard about yet?

@carolla
I hope it will work out for both of us.

@cj83
I'm an asian guy, but was born and raised in germany: I'm still here smile.gif

@Heather F
Yeah thats one of the sideeffects I don't wanna get: On a german acne board, alot of ppl have this prob and it seems to be permanent too sad.gif
In germany it's called "Augenringe". Circles around the eyes is just a description. I don't know the exact translation.

I will try to update my progress on a daily basis.

Day 2: 10mg

Skin:
The 2 spots above my right eyebrow got smaller. The 2 scabs on each cheek are still there. The bump on my right cheeck is almost flat now. The bump on my left cheek came to a head. So I popped it: The pus came out without any hard squeezing, just a gentle push.
Is it alright to pop a pimple if it comes to a head: I mean not hard squeezing just gently push it abit. What do you guys think?

Side Effects:
Nothing.

hi planlos,
so you're from germany too?! Great! biggrin.gif Hmm what you wrote about popping this one whitehead there..Hmm I always tried not to pop zits or even touch my face but sometimes there is no way avoiding it! Especially when you had a shower or something. Anyways I think it should be no big problem if it only was a small pimple. But you shouldn't pop cysts! (if you get one! I dunno!)cos that could cause you some scarring. I made this experience so DON'T POP CYSTS!!!! Wait till they shrink... wink.gif

Cheers!

I started on two 20mg a day, but it was making my skin too dry. i'll be taking time off until my face heals and then start with 20mg everyother day to finish off my existing pills and then 10mg a day.

Day 3: 10mg

Skin:
I popped one of the active spots above my eyebrow yesterday: so I got a red mark there. The other one is flat with a slight red mark. So I have basically no active acne right now. Just a bunch of red/brown marks and some healing spots.
But i noticed yesterday night, that I have some really small tiny bumps on the upper cheeks between my nose and the eyes and 2 on the bridge of my nose. You can't really see them, unless you're right in front of the mirror. But some of them just dissapeard today after I woke up. Hope the rest will go away fast too. Man I really hope that was the Initial Breakout LOL biggrin.gif

Side Effects:
Nothing.

Day 4: 10mg

Skin:
I got like 3-4 new small bumps in addition to the small tiny ones mentioned yesterday. So my face looks OK right now, with a bunch of red/brown marks and some healing spots.

Side Effects:
Nothing.

@carolla
I still don't have any side effects. Dry lips are a good sign, but watch out for other side effects.

Day 5: 10mg

Skin:
Again, I got like 1-2 new small bumps and a big one under my jawline near my chin. And 4 whiteheads showed up today: 2 on my right temple and 2 on my left cheeck. I couldn't resist and popped all of them biggrin.gif
Still red/brown marks all over my cheeks.

Side Effects:
Nothing.

Day 6: 10mg

Skin:
No new pimples or bumps today. I squeezed the big one under my jawline this morning. So overall I got some small slightly red bumps and alot of healing spots + red/brown marks.

Side Effects:
Nothing.

Day 7: 10mg

Skin:
Got a new pimple on my left upper cheek, and I couldn't resist to squeez it. Now I got a new healing spot.
I unclogged some clogged pores without any problems but still have 2-3 which won't come out yet. confused.gif
My overall complexion and skintone isn't good right now: 3-4 scabs and alot of red/brown marks which are slightly fading, but it still takes forever. doubt.gif

Side Effects:
Slightly dry lips, but I'm really not sure if they come from accutane, cuz my lips are were sometime dry even when I wasn't on accutane.

I would still say: no side effects.
