well i know for a fact, that everytime i eat peanuts my skin breaks out. i know this might be a stupid question, but i was eating a piece of bread, and it said on the wrapper "produced on equipment that also processes peanuts & tree nuts." my question is, will my skin break out because the bread i ate was produced on equipment that pracesses peanuts and tree nuts? i was just wondering.

Probably not - unless maybe you have some sort of severe allergy to peanuts. Peanuts (including peanut oil and peanut butter) are considered high androgen foods, which can exacerbate acne. I would doubt that enough of the peanut is getting into the bread to cause you problems. Again, they probably put that warning on for people who have severe allergic reactions to peanuts. Oh, and I think other nuts are ok to eat - its just peanuts that are the problem.

I know , I wondered the same thing too since I break out horribly on my neck if I eat peanuts or peanut butter and the other day my daughter bought animal crackers and I read the lable or so I thought and after I had eaten quite a few handfuls noticed in the extra small print "may contain traces of peanuts or tree nuts"! I almost went ballastic!!!!! Now what? I just got my neck fairly clear and maybe have screwed it up! What to do?

I think it would depend on how sensitive you are to peanuts. Trace amounts may not bother you unless you are extremely sensitive to them. I think people who have bad allergies to peanuts have reactions that are more severe than just skin breakouts? Not 100% sure on that one though.

The thing about peanuts is that they are acidic.

There is also something about them being a high androgen food. High androgen foods are supposed to be bad if you are acne-prone.

wow for real???? I eat peanut butter toast every day (sometimes up to 10 slices) and i never noticed any more breakouts than when i dont. Like if i were to go on vacation for a week and not eat any peanut butter toast i dont notice a difference. I had no idea peanut butter is a problem for acne prone skin. Is this proven or is it just another one of those myths like chocolate???

themanyo33, its for real for me and I have tested this several times and I can say without a doubt that peanuts and peanut butter breaks me out and so does pork products, hormones I was told.
