yea so, im a viet guy with acne and diet affects me heavily i believe. anyway, so like i started eating more

fruits and i go and buy random stuff like strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, mango, pineapple,

bananas, and other crap. and my viet parents tell me like...fruits such as mango, pineapple, and my dad, not mother,

says watermelon as well makes the body "hot." hot as like...causes more pimples....supposedly my

parents say its more preferable to have our body "cool." so does anyone have anything to say about these

fruits, cuz i eat them and im fine i think, or i break out a few days later but not sure its from the fruits. w/e. thanks

they are talking about the yin yang of foods. the philosophy says some foods have a yin affect, other a yang effect. i dont know much more, you can try and google the yin yang of foods...

Right now I'm eating watermelon, my skin is clear and I have a job interview 2moro. I'm trying not to freak out, that would be silly.

I always found the "hot" "cool" ying yang description of fruits and vegetables interesting in an odd way.
When I went to Asia for the first time as part of an assistance program about 2 years ago this older man told me to eat "many cucumbers" because they will "cool and help" my skin.

Its funny because on my new diet which cleared up my skin totally I do eat a lot of cucumbers....and KALE of course. I swear by kale, its so good for the skin.

Your parents are correct. Very sweet, high sugar fruits like tropical fruits are actually very dampening. All the dampness will create heat. So indirectly, tropical fruits will lead to a heating response in the body.

For those who are unfamiliar with Chinese medicine, it does clear skin. I use some of the principles to keep my skin in a good condition.

Acne is generally a damp-heat condition so you want to reduce foods which cause 'heat' and 'dampness'. Red meat, salt, and spices are very hot energetically. Sweets, brown rice, sweet fruit, wheat, and dairy are considered damp foods.

There are other damp-heat conditions other than acne. Candida is caused by too much dampness among others.

Watermelons are bad for acne because they have a high glycemic index (blood sugar response).

Anyways I'm intrigued by the Chinese system of foods as well. I'm actually about to get a book as recommended by my accupuncturist / naturopath called Healing With Whole Foods that goes into not only the western side of things with the science behind foods, but the Chinese side with what foods are used to help certain conditions, which are heatign, which are cooling, etc.

Finally, I was able to naturally cure my acne conditions in just 3 days without any medications or over-the-counter products.
Imagine waking up each morning looking at the mirror and not see a single zit on your face.
Sounds like a pipe dream, doesn’t it?

Several years ago my friends laughed when I told them I was going to discover a way to stop acne. They had the right to snicker because I had absolutely no knowledge or education about treating or preventing acne…in fact, I’m not even a doctor or a dermatologist.
But that didn’t stop me from discovering how to cure acne. Because I went on to research and learn everything I can about the causes of acne and how to get rid of it fast and even stop it from ever coming back.
I’ve also went through many doctors and dermatologists (some were helpful, some were not). As a matter of fact, I have seen 14 doctors and dermatologists within 2 years. One doctor would tell me it was because of this, another would tell me it had nothing to do with that at all. Others told me the same thing most of the doctors had told me already that didn’t work.
They’ve recommended me many prescriptions and over the counter products such as accutane, antibiotics, acne creams that I‘ve never heard or saw before, and other so call acne pills.
And yes, I took their advice. I’ve tried everything they prescribe and advise me.
But guess what?
Nothing works.
Every prescriptions they prescribe me to, either made my acne conditions worse, did nothing to help it, or had a bad side effect.
I got so angry and frustrated. I didn’t know what to do.
But I still didn’t give up. I kept on researching and tried to learn more about acne.
Then finally, through years of research I discovered a method that works. After I applied this method, my face completely cleared up. Not only that, I was able to stop my acne from ever came back. I’ve been acne free for the past 4 years.
So what I’m trying to say here is...I’m NOT trying to tell you or recommend to you what I think might work I’m recommending you a method that has worked for me.
What I’m sharing with you here is a method I know from my own personal experience that has worked for me.

So What's The Real Cause Of Acne?
Acne occurs when your body contains more toxics than your kidneys and bowels can remove. (Your kidneys and bowels are the two primary channels of elimination that your body expel toxics and waste products through.)
These toxics can be the accumulation of fat stored chemicals the liver can not wash out or there may be a problem with fat digestion, fat accumulation, food allergy, or even the accumulation of hormones that your body produces.
Once these toxics build up, your kidneys and bowels can get overloaded and clogged up, causing it to not function properly.
When that happens some of the load will be dumped onto your liver. One of your liver's main roles is to metabolize pile up fat into usable energy for your body. This means, your liver will be doing some of your kidney's work. So now, your liver gets overloaded and it too will not work at full capacity.
What happens when your bowels, kidneys, and liver gets overloaded?
When that happen your body will expel toxins through your lungs and skin (your secondary channels of elimination). And this is when acne occurs. This is when your skin starts to breakout.
So whatever the toxic source is that‘s causing this problem, acne is a sign that your bowels and kidneys are overloaded with toxins, waste products, or hormones.
It is a sign that your liver is growing weaker in its detoxification abilities (and it will continue to grow weaker if you do not do what it takes to get rid of the toxics in your body).
So if you think that acne is your only problem, think again, your liver, kidneys, and bowels are getting weaker every time you breakout.
How I Got Rid Of My Acne In 3 Days
Cucumbers
Cucumbers are one of the most cleansing vegetables that will clean the inside of your body and should be done in a 3 day period for maximum results.
This is a purifying diet which cleanses your bowels, kidneys and liver, as well as your entire system. Staying on the cucumber fast for three days will allow your body to digest, clean out toxins and metals in the liver that create acne breakout.
This is a simple, yet effective fast that is great to repeat every few months (or years) to get rid of acne and prevent it from ever coming back.
Cucumbers will absorb the toxins in your system as your body digests them.
Prepare by eating lightly the day prior to starting the fast. You may have a small salad or light soup to brush your system clear and help to prepare the body.
When on the cucumber fast you should avoid exhausting exercises because this is a time for your body to restore itself internally, and demanding or exhausting exercise can distract your body’s focus from inward to outward.
But light yoga and gentle stretching are exceptional during this fast.
If you must do heavy labor, try and cut it down by at least half.
Sprouts
Sprouts are the best cleansing food you could ever eat. They are loaded with protein, fiber, sulfur, phyto-nutrients and enzyme, which is exactly what you need to cleanse your body.
You can eat them every minute of your waking hour and not eat too many.
However, you do need to make sure the sprouts you buy are fresh, because most sprouts will spoil quickly and facilitate the growth of harmful bacteria that can cause food poisoning.
So it’s best to sprout the seeds yourself so you’ll know for a fact that it’s fresh. And by doing this you’ll also have a continuous supply of fresh sprouts if done right.

Berries
Berries such as blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, and strawberries are also very cleansing foods. They are high in phytonutrients and low in natural sugar.
Consume about 1 to 2 servings daily.
I do not recommend you eat any other fruits because they are high in natural sugar and can cause chronic yeast, fungus overgrowth, and it can spike up blood sugar levels which can worsen acne.
Drink Lots Of “Purified� Water Mixed With Lemon Juice
Drinking purified water is extremely important in the detoxifying process especially when you mix it with lemon juice and cayenne pepper. It acts as a catalyst to move acids out of the body.
Water is quite possibly the single most important contributor to healing and preventing acne flare-ups. (Remember I said purified water NOT distilled or any other type of water.)
But when you add some lemon juice and a pinch of cayenne pepper with it, it will be much more effective. The lemon juice and cayenne pepper will boost the cleansing action of the water.
So here’s what you do:
Just mix a glass of purified water with the juice of 1 fresh lemon and a pinch of cayenne pepper. How much water/lemon juice/cayenne pepper mix should you be drinking each day to flush out toxins from your body?
You should drink about 8 glasses of purified water mix with fresh lemon juice a day or drink at least half your bodyweight in ounces of water. For example, if you weight 130 pounds, you should drink 65 ounces of water per day.
Why?
Because water is the main carrier of nutrients throughout your body. So if you don’t drink enough water, toxins will build up and cause breakouts. Drinking enough water it will flush out toxins like flushing a toilet. So we would be poisoning ourselves with our own metabolic wastes if we’re not drinking enough water.
I’ll say this again: by drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, you will be flushing out the toxins that would normally escape through the pores of your skin... thus preventing acne breakouts. Your kidneys cannot function properly without enough water because water is what will dissolve waste products in your kidneys so it can easily be remove. And when they do not work to its full capacity, some of the load will be dumped onto your liver. And if your liver has to do some of the kidney's work, it cannot work at full capacity because one of your liver's main roles is to metabolize pile up fat into usable energy for your body. A liver that is not performing at its best can worsen acne because it cannot break down and clear excess hormones from your body. Water also helps retain proper muscle tone, by giving muscles their natural ability to contract and by preventing dehydration. Shrinking cells are sustained by water which plumps your skin and leaves it clear, vigorous, and resilient. Again, your system cannot rid itself of wastes and toxins if you are not drinking at least 8 glasses of purified water with lemon juice and cayenne pepper or half of your bodyweight in ounces of water a day. So remember this: drinking water is essential for clear, healthy skin.
How To Cleanse Your Body Through Deep Breathing
Your breath is the control button to the mechanism that cleanses your system. It controls the flow of lymph fluid in the body.
You see, lymph fluid contains white blood cells that protects your entire body and cleanse the system. Every cell in your body is surrounded by lymph. In fact, you have 4 times more lymph fluid than you have blood.
Now here's how the lymph system works:
Blood is pump from your heart through your arteries to thin pore capillary. The blood carries the oxygen and nutrients to the capillary. Where they are then defused into this fluid around the cells called lymph. (Again, every cell in your body is surrounded with lymph.)
The cells has an intelligence or an infinite for what they need, so they take the oxygen and the nutrients necessary for their health right out of the lymph. And then they excrete toxins…some of which goes back to the capillaries but dead cells, blood proteins and other toxic materials must be remove by the lymph systems.
See, the body cells depends on the lymph system as the only way to drain off the large toxic materials and the excess fluid in your body. And the lymph system can only do that when it is activated by deep breathing.
We recently found this out when Dr. Jack Shield who's a highly regarded lymphologist in Santa Barbra California conducted a study on the immune system. He put small cameras inside people's body to see what stimulated the cleansing of the lymph system. He found that a deep diaphragmatic breathe is the most effective way to accomplish this.
It creates something like a vacuum that literally sucks the lymph through the blood stream and multiplies the paste at which the body eliminates toxins.
In fact, deep breathing can accelerate this cleansing process by as much as 15 times more than the normal paste.
So how do you do this deep breathing exercise?
Here's the most effective way to breathe in order to cleanse your system:
To do this breathing exercise you should breathe in the following ratio:
• Inhale for 1 count
• Hold for 4 count
• Exhale for 2 count
So for example, if you inhale for 5 seconds, you would hold for 20 seconds, and exhale for 10 seconds. Get the picture?
So why are you exhaling twice as long as you inhale?
Because when you exhale that's when you're actually eliminating toxins via your lymphatic system.
Why hold 4 times as long?
Because that's how you can fully oxygenate the blood and activate your lymphatic system.
In addition, when you breathe you should start deep in your abdomen like a vacuum cleaner that's getting rid of all the toxins in the blood system.
Take at least 10 deep breathes in the ratio I just described at least 3 times a day.
Use An Enema At The End Of Each Day
OK…here’s one of the most important part you must do when you’re on the fast. This must be done every day at the end of each day for three days to achieve the results you want.
First of all, what is an enema? An enema is simply the insertion of water into the lower bowl to wash out impacted debris, bacteria, and toxins.
It is an extremely important measure for keeping the large intestine clean from wastes and speeding evacuation of toxic matter from the system through the bowels.
You can get one at your local store.
Why use it?
Simply because as the cucumbers move through your digestive tract they will be absorbing toxins. Your goal is to ensure all the cucumbers have passed at the end of each day. If not then, all the toxins that the cucumbers have absorb will remain in your system.
In other words, the toxins the cucumbers have absorbed will reabsorb.
You do not want this to happen or you will not get the results you want within 72 hours (3 days).
So here’s what you do at the end of each day with the enema:
1. Fill the enema bag with warm water. The temperature of the water should be around 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit (your body temperature). You may use a mixture of salt and baking soda (about 1 teaspoon each for each quart of water) to stimulate peristalsis and immune function. But, it often works well with just plain water.
2. Lay on your right side or back side and insert the lubricated nozzle as per instructions on the box. You may use Vaseline or non-petroleum lubricant to make insertion easier.
3. Now open the clamp and go slowly, letting only a little of water enter your colon at a time. Keep doing this until you have taken in 1-3 quartz or until you need to expel it.
4. Now lie on your left side and do it again.
You may also want to massage your abdominal during the process to help assist the enema solution into the entire colon.
By the way, you can have this done professionally by visiting a clinic that performs the colonic. Although this is not necessary because you can easily do it yourself (I did).

This is when your hormones go out of balance.
What are hormones?
Hormones are secretory substance carried from one gland or organ of the body via the bloodstream to more or less specific tissues, where it exerts some influence upon the metabolism of the target tissue.
Anyway, how did your hormones go out of balance in the first place?
Your hormones can go out of balance when your body produces too much hormones (this usually happens during puberty) and not enough prostaglandins to keep the hormones in balance.
Prostaglandins are necessary to keep hormones in balance. And when there are not enough prostaglandins to keep the hormones in balance, your hormones will go out of balance (and cause acne).
Why won’t your body produce more prostaglandins to keep hormones in balance?
Although your body has the raw materials to produce hormones, it does not have enough of the raw materials to produce prostaglandins.
What you need to do is supply your body with the necessary raw material for proper prostaglandins production.
The raw material I’m talking about is called Essential Fatty Acid. These are unsaturated fats that are necessary for thousands of biological functions throughout the body.
These fatty acids will assist your body in hormone production.
The essential fatty acid I recommend you take is called the Udo’s Choice. It is a mixture of all essential fats, combining flax oil, sunflower oil, medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), evening primrose oil, and more.

That’s the process you should follow when doing the cucumber fast!

What you must do and not do for this method to be effective:
For the cucumber fast to be effective, the only thing you should eat during the 3 day period of the fast are:

Fruits and vegetables are the most cleansing foods you can ever eat. They will clean the inside of your body and absorb toxins & acids in your system as your body digests them. They are also packed with nutrients.
However, because some fruits and vegetables are very high in natural sugar.
The fruits I recommend you eat are lemons, lime, and berries. And as for vegetables, any type of green vegetables such as cucumbers, spinach, celery, sprouts, broccoli, etc. should be fine.
One of the most important principles to stop toxics from building up is to eat raw natural foods.
Why natural foods?
Because natural foods contain more vitamins, proteins, minerals and other nutrients, particularly the vital enzymes, than denatured foods.
For example, fruits and vegetables should be eaten raw, not cooked, canned, or frozen. If cooking is necessary they should be steamed or cooked with little or no water.
Why?
Because cooking destroys all the enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. In other words, cooked foods are dead food. Only living foods can cleanse your body of toxins.
Furthermore, raw foods act as a cleansing agent of the digestive and eliminative systems and are more easily digestible when they are in their raw state than their cooked state.
Canning, drying, freezing, salting, or prolonged storage are all more or less destructive to the nutritive quality of the food.
Another example of natural foods...
Whole wheat, brown rice, orange, sugar can and potatoes are natural whole foods.
White bread, polished rice, orange juice, white sugar, and instant potatoes are not natural whole foods. They’ve been refined, concentrated, or are fragments of the foods from which important vital nutritive factors have been removed.
Processed meat, bread, cereals, canned and processed foods are loaded with some of the nearly 1,000 different chemicals now used by the food processing industry. And many of them have never been tested for their possible toxicity.
Recent research even shows that the toxic effect of chemicals is multiplied by the effect of other chemical agents consumed simultaneously.
Because of that, there are now growing movements in the United States to produce toxic-free, organically grown foods. So it is recommended you purchase your foods from health food stores.
So if you happen to consume any of the above mucus-forming, acid-building, food-clogging, acne aggravating foods try to eat and drink more raw green vegetables and purify water. This way, your system can’t get clogged up and cause toxins to build up.
Figure Out This One Thing and You Could Eliminate Your Acne Forever (or reduce it to a minimum)
Did you know that certain types of food can worsen your acne?
What type of food am I talking about?
The type of food that your body is allergic to.
You see, the foods that your body is allergic to can become very toxic in your body. And most of the time your body will be expelling these toxics through your secondary channels of elimination, such as your skin (resulting in acne breakout).
What type of food can cause allergy reaction?
Only your body will know the exact foods it’s allergic to but here are some of the most common food allergies:
• Shellfish such as shrimp, crayfish, lobster, and crab
• Tree nuts such as peanuts and walnuts
• Fish
• Eggs
• Milk
• Soy products
• Corn
• Wheat
The above are just a list of common allergy foods. But you should know that your body could be allergic to any type of food.
So how do you know exactly which food you’re allergic to?
By testing.
You can do this by listing of all the food you ate before and currently eat (especially the food that you eat on a regular basis). Then eat and test each food one by one.
The test I recommend you take is the pulse test (a simple easy test).
Here’s what you do:
1. On an empty stomach check your pulse and count how many times it beats per minute. Record the beats per minute (results).
2. Now eat one of the foods that you’re going to test. Please note: you must not eat anything else but the food that you’re going to test. Example, if you’re going to test and see if you’re allergic to shrimp then you must not eat anything else but shrimp.
3. Relax in a chair or on a bed for about 20 minutes. Do not do anything at this time (just relax).
4. Now test your pulse again. If your pulse rate stays the same or increases by 3 to 5 beats per minute then you’re not allergic to that food. But if it increases by more than 8 beats per minute then you are allergic to that food.
You can do this test 4 to 5 times a day. However, if you do find allergic reaction to one of the food you’re testing then do not test anymore food for that day. This is because your pulse rate will remain at the same high rate for a while (possibly the rest of the day or a few hours).
The One Thing You Can Start Doing Today
That Can Help Prevent Acne
Normally, all food you eat should take about 24 hours to travel through your digestive system. If it takes longer, you may not be getting enough fiber in your diet.
Fiber is responsible for keeping things moving “smoothly� so to speak. The longer foods stay in the body, the more chance it has to putrefy. And when foods begins to putrefy, it produces toxins that are not immediately harmful,
but which, over many years, can cause chronic illnesses, psoriasis, eczema, dandruff, body odor, colon cancer, and of course...acne.
However, you can prevent this from happening by increasing “fiber� intake. Fiber will absorb these toxins and product waste, and help your bowels sweep them out of your system fast.
So by taking enough fiber, you’ll be able to speed up your bowels transit time thus, preventing your body from expelling toxics through your skin and preventing acne.
So your next step is to start eating the type of foods that contains the highest amount of fiber on a daily basis.
What types of food contains the highest amount of fiber? Fruits and non-starchy vegetables.
Fruits such as apples, bananas, oranges, raspberries, and strawberries. And vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, spinach, parsnips, and potatoes. These contain the highest amount of fiber.
But this does not mean that you go out and eat as much of these high fiber foods as you can.
You should only consume enough so that your bowel transit time is between 12 to 18 hours. In other words, try not to consume too much fiber in day or else your transit time may be too fast causing nutrients to pass through your system without being absorbed. So if your transit time is under 12 hours, you may want to reduce the amount of fibers consume each day.
However, if your transit time is more than 24 hours then you really need to consume more fiber intake or else your body will start expelling these product wastes and toxins through your skin (resulting in acne breakout).
For me it’s about 32 grams of fiber a day but it may be different for you, so you should really test it out for yourself and see how much grams of fiber you should be consuming each day. It’s probably best to start out with 25 grams of fiber a day and go on from there.
How much grams of fiber does each fruit and vegetable contain? For the fruits I’ve listed above it’s about 3 grams each and the vegetables are about 2 grams each. However, I do recommend you consume more vegetables than fruits because fruits are high in natural sugar.

I think bananas causing acne is BS.

First of all, bananas have 1/3 of their fiber as the "diabetic" fiber: soluble fiber. 2nd of all bananas are a natural source of FOS, the kind of food that feeds your intestinal bacteria.

Plus bananas have a low GI, even when ripe.

Also, all those high GI fruits you listed have a low GL.

This is just my two pennies, but I have always found the theories that fruits are bad for you ridicilous. I know that there are many masters, gurus and what not saying that fruits are bad for you. My thinking tends to be that if nature has made it easily available for us, and that it feels natural to eat it then it can't be bad. I have personally never had anything bad happen after eating fruits - if they are combined properly. Nor have I ever noticed that fruits would cause sugar cravings that white bread or rice causes.
