This board is full of people sounding so lost and confused. When somebody comes on the board who actually knows what they are talking about, they don't even stand out amidst the confusion. It's like putting Einstein in the middle of busy train station. He'd never get heard. The only posters who get heard are the ones who like snake oil salesmen claim they cured their acne through some exotic and hard to come by substance. This gives false hope and leads people astray. To all the confused people on this board: if you've been here for over six months and haven't noticed very obvious improvements in your acne, then go on the net, read and heal your acne yourself. Don't continue to take advice from other confused posters. If they still have acne problems, then they are just as confused even if they sound knowledgeable. I spent a few years reading everything I could find on acne, trying different diets, and now can have completely clear skin while still eating good food abundantly. I'm not exaggerating on this, but 97% of what's written on this board won't clear up your skin and is wasting your precious time. The only posters who should be listen to are the ones who claim that they have maintained their clear skin for at least three months. All other posters shouldn't give out advice on how to clear skin if their skin isn't even clear.

1. If it didn't clear you up, that doesn't mean it won't clear up others.
2. Of course this forum is confusing, nutrition and alternative health are generally pretty confusing subjects.
3. There are some pretty knowledgeable people on here and if you have half an idea of what's going on, you can probably point them out. I don't even think it's necessary to mention names, let's keep it as simple as saying one starts with an S, one starts with a B, one starts with a D, etc. There's definitely some people that got their shit together. And then there's kids like MelbourneBloke who keep it all entertaining and interesting with the posts that don't necessarily have to do with acne like the Hunza people, but it's still interesting and good to know.
4. So how'd you clear yourself up? If you got something that worked for you don't hesitate to hold it back smile.gif

What did you hope to contribute to the forum by posting this complaint? I've been on the forum for 8 months now and have benefited GREATLY by taking people's suggestions and trial and error. It's not a waste of time to discuss various ideas to benefit our bodies as a whole, and not just for getting rid of acne. It seems to me that the best way to go about it is to take people's ideas into consideration and see what works for you. It's confusing and overwhelming sometimes, but valuable to see all the different opinions and experiences.

Most of the people who have seen improvement have been on a certain diet for 3 or more months. I have received some pretty good information and I've barely been here for like a week. There is some pretty interesting stuff here.

It's possible that some people don't have the same reaction to food than others, but what most are saying is that it is triggered by food not caused by it.

If there's something I can really tell to hate it's censure
I don't believe in scanning information, silenting people, covering the truth, making things superficial for the sake of making them simpler, ignore bizzarre theories, be morals and close-minded about someone's theory (geez ... everyone thought earth was flat! they tortured the only man who said otherwise)

So yes I believe in confusion, because I believe that everyone can make his or her mind up and doesn't need others making order. You never know what could be revealing or where a long seeked truth is concelead so I believe it's better to listen to everyone even people who say we're children of aliens and we evolved with alien genes, because you can better make your mind up when you have all the information from the most certain to the most shocking rather than when they're filtered by someone else, more often than not someone with biased interests ...
Just my two cents

I actually agree with this statement. I dont think you can judge whether an acne treatment is working unless you have tried it and had success for at least 3 months. I too think there are far to many people who come on here and say - 'I did "x" 5 minutes ago and already my acne is clearing!!'. Just my 2 cents ...

Well, most people have enough common sense to not listen to the quick fix people.

The only thing that has kept me clear for over 3 months is proactiv and that has been black labelled on this website. I've tried diet, meds, and switched my cleansers time and again only to come back to proactiv.

People don't need to be clear or actually using a supplement or diet in order to offer advice or knowledge.

For instance, I am not on a Paleo diet but I know what it is and that some people have had success with it. So if someone asks "What is the Paleo Diet?" I can offer information and help acnswer their question even though I don't have first hand, experiential knowledge of it.

I know what you mean because I can tell people information on things that have been successful to others too.

Unfortunately these people aren't always easy to spot. That said, I have also received ALOT of very useful info here so the skill is in trying to separate the wheat from the chaff (sp?). However, it doesn't hurt to remind people from time to time that they when reading some posts here they should come armed with a bullsh!t detector ...

I've had perfectly clear skin for eight years. The answer is as simple as accutane.

Yeah and some people are just plain dumb and can't sort it. It's their own fault though.

That's unfair. People who post here often don't give all the info one would need to determine whether they are talking sense. For example, I got slated one day because I dared to suggest that it was probably OK to have a couple of drinks (not going overboard) whilst on Accutane. One particular poster called me "idiotic" and said a few other uncomplimentary things. S/he continued that "everyone knows" that alcohol is full of sugar and therefore contributes to candida which in turn contributes to acne. A few weeks later that same person posted a thread to the effect that they did not believe that candida was causing their acne and that it was now being caused by some new theory. That is not the only example I have come across. So no I don't think people are dumb for not spotting when people are spouting theories as if they were facts - the dumb ones are the people who choose to post these theories with little reasonable basis for doing so.

I actually think the guy has a point. Some people that finally get some results and make logs sometimes tend to lose perspective and claim that all kinds of other regimens they had bad experience with (like stuff they got from the derm) are bad, no matter what. And of course their regimen is the only way to go.

It's good though that they post their findings so we all keep finding new options and in the long term are able to create new/better regimens and maybe learn some more about acne, how it works and what really works/helps against it (a lot of derms don't even completely know how the products they subscribe battle and prevent acne).

It's pretty much impossible to prevent these posts btw, there are a lot of crazy people on earth that tend to get even crazier when posting something on the internet smile.gif.

A general rule that everyone knows and needs to keep reminding themselves of is being skeptical online.
