Hi,I was wondering what's considered an "inflamed pimple"? Because I do have pimples, but they are bumps. are those "inflamed pimples"?

Just did a peel with 40% GA. Used a cotton swab as a spot treatment (since I have some active zits). My face is not very red at all since I only left it on for 2 minutes. Keep in mind I have sensitive skin. I will do it again on Tuesday after class.

I'm going to try to get 2 more peels done before my Las Vegas trip on Nov 13. Hopefully my marks will fade dramatically. I think I will leave it on for 3 minutes or so on my next peel.

How long should I wait before getting a peel done.
Got off Accutane 2 weeks ago, stopped around 2 months into my course.

So I'm an idiot and kept messing with a pimple and now I have a red mark left behind....it looks pretty bad sad.gif

I'm afraid I'm going to have a scar......what do you guys think of salicylic acid? Would it help me at all? I'm trying to decide if I should get that, or just Glycolic. I could get both.....but it would be expensive

Not too well. Each peel fades my red marks about 2-3%. It used to work much better years ago but now my skins is stubborn as hell.

salicylic acid does not work nearly as well as glycolic acid for red marks

i will be doing my first peel at 30% on friday night. rather do it on a weekend just incase i break out, etc. i dont want to show up at work all week looking like a mess. anyway, do i use baking soda to wash off? also, how do i apply the acid? cotton swap?

Hi there, I am on my 3rd 30% glycolic peel and it is working great. What I do is wash my face with cleanser, wait until skin is completeley dry, apply the acid with a fan brush(just one coat)which is 1ml, then when it starts to burn usually after 3 minutes put a facecloth on it that was in a bowl with baking soda and warm water. My face is usually scaly in spots and flaky for about 4 days after my peel, I have chosen to do the peels on sunday nights that way they wont ruin my weekends. one more thing makeup looks really bad for the first few days but believe me after a few peels your face will look amazing. Good Luck

I'm currently doing weekly 40% lactic acid peels. It has faded my red marks considerably. I'm on my fourth peel. I leave the lactic acid solution on my skin for 4 minutes and then I neutralize it with baking soda and water. My face is usually red post-peel, but it goes back to normal color after an hour or so. I don't use any actives post-peel and just slather a few drops of jojoba oil to help with the tightness/dryness. My skin has been getting better and better ever since my second peel. It's a lot more smoother and my red marks are fading at a much faster rate.

Before I started doing home peels, I was using PC's AHA Gel. While it has helped with my red marks, I soon reached a plateau and didn't see anymore improvements. I'm not sure if the aha just fades red marks up to a certain point and stops working. unsure.gif That seem to be the case for me.

I'm willing to do GA or Lactic Acid. Since I am seeing more people use GA with good results I'm heading towards that. I see a lot of cheap bottles on ebay and other sites. So many of them aren't listing the pH and I know that is very important. If I can find some for around $10 I would be really happy. Any suggestions?

It sounds like a pH of 2.3 would be ideal

So one thing I've been completely unable to find via Google is how to use salicylic as a "prep" for another peel. According to this little instructional pamphlet that came with the peels, you can apparently do that, use salicylic as a prep for another peel, unfortunately it doesn't say anything more than that. Although it makes it clear you can only do that with salicylic, not with any of the other chemicals.

Does anyone know how that works? Do you put the salicylic on your face and then put, say, lactic over it? Or do you apply the salicylic, wash it off, and then apply the next thing?

I've done the latter for the past two weeks (salicylic, wash, lactic, wash, end) and it seems okay, although I'm still not sure whether I'm doing it correctly.

Hi guys, I currently have a lot of brown/PIH marks and since I'm asian, it's really noticeable. I'm thinking of ordering 50% or 70% lactic acid gel peels. Which shall I choose? I hear that for people who have yet to try these peels, it is recommended to start with 50% but I'm in desperate need to rid my face of these brown marks. Well I recently got chicken pox and I have a significant increase of brown marks. By the way, Lactic acid is the correct choice over glycolic for brown marks amirite?

Yeah, lactic over glycolic for PIH. At least from what I've read.

70% would probably be too much if you're new to peels. However, what you could do is dilute it with distilled water.

A 1:1 mixture of 70% acid and distilled water would give you a 35% peel for example, which would probably be okay.

Although I think you should try a 1:2 acid:water mixture for the first time for a ~23% peel, just to make sure. Especially if your skin is darker.

If you do try that, you do have to use distilled water. Not just tap water.

Can I do spot treatment on my brown marks?
