Hi guys

I never used to have bacne at all until about a year ago.

Have just started seeing a derm on Harley Street and she has recommended chemical peels.. im going for the first one today. Think its gonna be a course of 3 altogether.

After reading the forums however, I dont think that this would be the best treatment for me. I still have active acne on the back and shoulders.. so wouldnt a peel be painful or make it worse? isnt a peel just for scarring? am very confused and wondering whether to go through with the peel tonight or tell her to recommend something to clear up the acne first??

any ideas?

thanks in advance guys. eusa_pray.gif

well i peel my back twice a week, i dont have any actives and i think the extra irritation peeling causes would indeed worsen the actives and cause more inflammations.

My peeling seems to work great for healing scars faster (could also be the bisabolol in my peeling product that does the healing), so maybe you could use bp (if there are lots of inflammated breakouts) to get rid of the active breakouts and then use a peeling to heal the scars.

If its just 1 or 2 actives and the peeling doenst cause extra actives then peel away smile.gif (just dont do it more then twice a week)

(im far from an expert though, just giving my oppinion wink.gif)

Hi Mark

Thanks for your reply mate..

I went for the peel last night and it wasnt as bad as i thought.. she applied it on the active acne, but today that feels a lot better.. no stinging or anything. and it has started to dry up overnight. Im only having the peel done once every 3 weeks. its a salycilic peel so its quite strong.

she did say that i may experience more breakouts, but thats the treatment doing its stuff where it brings all the acne up to the surface so it cant fester and will dry out...so fingers crossed! eusa_pray.gif
