My tongue has a white coating on it, maybe I have candida or something

Have you ever read anything by Dr. Mosseri?
He is a natural hygienist that conducted many hygienic fast in his clinic in France
According to Mosseri a white coated tongue is caused by the process of cleansing: the body saving energy on digesting hard to digest foods and speeding up the catabolization process of diseased tissue and the building of healthier tissue (for example scars that have never healed are healed during a therapeutic fasting)
For Natural Hygiene philosophy, and I believe Wai theories are grounded on natural hygiene ones, after the tongue turns white or black when eventually it will turn again pink it means you're purified and healthy again
How many people do you know that don't have coated tongue?
I don't know anyone with a pink clean tongue except young kids who are generally healthier because they haven't had the time to abuse their body long enough

Danny

When were talking white coated, do we just mean the back part of the tongue? I have a third of my tongue that has a white coat but right from the back almost to the middle. Where the Tongue looks a bit rougher..

Ya get maa (words of pitman)

I'm making progress..

I almost fainted on the subway today from hypoglycemia, so I'm on the right track.

Today I ate the following mixture: 1 avocado, 4 table spoons of oats, 1 tomato. Before that in the morning, I ate 2 avocados with a few table spoons of oats and 2 tomatoes.

So now I need to add more carbs to the mixture. I think I'll do it like this:

1 avocado
1 cup of oats (soaked overnight)
4 tomatoes
1 grilled chicken breast

and I'll eat it throughout the day, every time in this order:

1) tomato
2) oats
3) avocado

chicken will be eaten separately

I'll also eat carrots in the morning

I'm glad your doing good.. that sucks you almost fainted.. so what are you trying to do, get rid of the candida??

How do you soak the oats overnight? Does this make it so you don't have to cook it with alot of heat?? This would be great for me I need to gain some weight.

Good luck

Teplo, why the heck are you eating so much fat??? Are you trying to kill your liver? Fat should only be 33% of your daily caloric intake. That's means only like a couple tablespoon of olive oil, not 1/3 the bottle! And you should cut down the avocado consumption to a spoonful or two a day.

The coated tongue doesn't necessarily mean candida, but rather sluggish/toxic bowel. Here's a good link: http://www.askshelley.com/faq.php?p=default&cat=53#a78 READ UP!

Shelley is back, so I highly recommend that you read through her FAQ and forum, and post any questions you may have. Good luck.

For candida, I'm basically doing a diet which I read about in a book at my university's library. It's the same diet as all the other ones on the web basically. As little carbs as possible - that's the only rule.

No fruit except tomato, no bread, the only grain can be steel cut oatmeal. Nothing fermented except apple cider vinegar, etc. You can read all that stuff online in many places.

It may seem like I'm going from one diet to the next really fast, but that's actually not the case. I've been experimenting with diet for a long time, and I've narrowed it down now. What I know for sure is that my acne is caused by high-glycemic carbs. It might be candida, it might be an insulin issue. Since it has been slowly getting worse and worse over the years, and improves when I eat less carbs, I'm assuming it's candida. When I tested my blood sugar, it was normal, so I'm not hyperglycemic. Also I have 95% of the symptoms of candida. Fatigue, allergies (which increase with more carbs), IBS, etc.

The cadida diet is great, when I discovered that steel cut oatmeal is perfectly ok to eat. Before that I was always starving, but not anymore. I soak it overnight in filtered water and it becomes soft and ready to eat.

I've learned lessons from all diets I've tried, and I'm glad I tried them. I try to eat raw food as much as possible - the raw egg is just not for me. I like grilled chicken, and it doesn't give me new acne.

well, Wai said that you need a lot of olive oil, so I assumed that she meant a lot of olive oil. I had no idea it's bad for the liver, thanks for letting me know.

Soaking oats, grains in general, as well as legumes and nuts makes them easier to digest by deactivating enzyme inhibitors, as well as neutralizing the phytic acid content which binds to important minerals like zinc in the digestive tract and prevents their absorbsion. All you gotta do is leave them in warm salt water over night. As a bonus, it takes 1/3 the time to cook them too smile.gif

I read a bumper sticker the other day, most true thing ever: "The less you know, the less you need."

But yeah it sucks, if I personally eat normally like everyone else I break out horribly. I ate pretty "normally" today for Father's Day... Polish sausage, lamb dinner, chocolate and sorbet for dessert... Somewhere along the way I'll probably be breaking out or worsening in the next couple days but atleast I'll know why. It's quite a trade off, you can either become an outcast because you refuse to eat the foods everyone else does at special holiday family events, or you can become an outcast by having a face full of pimples and be afraid to go outside. Good thing I've got plenty of self esteem!

I think it's about 1.5 cups water to every cup oatmeal if you want to get technical. When I soak things I usually just fill things till they're slightly floating in water, come back later when they've absorbed all the water and fill up some more.

I'm pretty sure the salt is just there to alter the pH so that bad bacteria / mold won't grow. Some recipes suggest using it or they call for whey, lemon juice, anything acidic. I'm not positive that's why salt water is used though. I'm more into sprouting as opposed to just soaking grains / seeds / legumes / beans now, you get more food and more nutrition for the same amount.

I've read that something acidic is needed to neutralize the phytic acid. I use a tablespoon of kefir in water for soaking oats.

Your not neutralizing the phytic acid...
Look what you typed.

"something acidic is needed to neutralize the phytic acid"

eusa_wall.gif

A neutralization reaction is when a base and an acid combine to create a salt and water. Mixing two acids wont do that.

It just what I read. I really don't know that much about it...

QUOTE
Most of these antinutrients are part of the seed's system of preservation -- they prevent sprouting until the conditions are right. Plants need moisture, warmth, time and slight acidity in order to sprout. Proper preparation of grains is a kind and gentle process that imitates the process that occurs in nature. It involves soaking for a period in warm, acidulated water in the preparation of porridge, or long, slow sour dough fermentation in the making of bread. Such processes neutralize phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors.

Either way sprouted grains, legumes, nuts and seeds are the shit! Adds more nutrients, gets rid of the bad things and extends the wallet smile.gif And who doesn't need a break financially from all this emphasis we place on eating the right foods and running up the grocery bill...

this SUCKS!!

my skin was pretty much clear after I stopped eating sweet fruit and all the other bad stuff, but then they gave us pizza at work, I ate some, then ate some cookies, ate more cookies next day, then yesterday ate a lot of ice cream and chocolate, and now I have a few cysts again... damn!! After I start eating refined carbs, it's like I completely lose self-control.

I'm starting to think that the combination of fat and carbs is what's causing my acne.

It's the exact opposite of Wai's diet.

Yesterday i tried eating no fat, but lots of carbs: sugary cereal, fruit, etc.

And.. my face is fine. No new acne.

Perhaps it's best to avoid eating carbs and fat together?

I guess everyone is different but I dont think you can base what you ate yesterday on the fact that you have no new acne today. I notice whenever I make a dietary change my skin has a delayed period before I break out. I hope I'm wrong and you found what worked for you. I think that the fat can only help with the consumption of carbs. I know that when I wait too long before eating fat after I eat my fruit or other carbs, I break out. Again, everyone is different. Keep a positive attitude and hopefully this works.
