Hi!

I have acne prone skin and will follow a vitamin program. The problem is that I dont know how much i should take and how to get a good balance with 3-6-9.

I have read some threads here and its written that to much of ex. omega 3 can disturb omega 6 or whatever and get it worse.

Whats your recommendation to take? Here is what I thought to take:

MultiOmega

Borage Oil 400mg
Fish Oil 400mg
Flax Oil 400mg

2 caps / day and:

Evening Primrose Oil 1300mg 1 cap / day
Flaxseed Oil 1000mg 1 cap / day.

How do you think? Is this a good balance of omega 3-6-9? Do I need to take higher dosage if im suffering of acne?

//Max

Supposedly it's best to have 2X Omega-3 compaired to Omega-6. (2:1). So if you have 6.0g omega-6, aim 12.0g Omega-3 (DHA, EPA, or straight linolenic acid) per day.....Oleic acid (omega-9) should be close to the intake od Omega-6. So it's really like 2:1:1 (3:6:9 respectively).......

Right now you're a bit heavy on the Omega-6, but better than most people who don't pay attention to essential fatty acid intake...........Add a bit more flax oil and you'll be fine......

I usually just take 2 TBSP of Udo's Choice Oil Blend.....that way I don't have to calculate anything...

Oh and just for the record.....this alone won't make a difference in your acne.......

Thanks for you answer, very greatful!

So if I have understood this right:

The ratio between these are 3:6:9.

Its mean that if i take:

6X Omega-3 caps (1000mg) I will need to take

3X Omega-6 caps (1000mg) and

2X Omega 9 caps (1000mg)

That will resulting a balance of 3:6:9 --> 6(caps)* OMEGA3 | 3(caps)*OMEGA6 | 2(caps)*OMEGA9 --> 18:18:18 --> 1:1:1?

Is this a correct calculate?

The 2:1:1 ratio is what I have been informed of as well.

hmm struck my calculation.

As you both says, 2:1:1 means that 2X Omega 3 1X Omega 6 and 1XOmega 9 would be a good balance?

Yeah....sounds good, just make sure you calculate total mg's or g's of each, and don't just count how many pills you take, and also take your diet into consideration....if you eat a lot of fish or walnuts you may have more Omega-3 than you think. Also if you eat alot of olive oil you'll be a little heavy on Omega-9....

I like Udo since the ratio is all figured out for already.....2 tbsp a day is all I need....I usually don't eat too much other fats in my diet......sometimes I cook with butter.....but that's mostly saturated fat.....I do eat fish a lot, but I also snack on sunflower seeds.....so most of the few fats I eat in my diet are in some kind of balance......

Allright yeah i will. To be sure, when it comes to acne, isn't there any deficiency of one OMEGA? I'm meaning if we need to add more of one OMEGA?

STOP TAKING OMEGA-3's IN CAPSULE FORM
TAKE IT IN LIQUID FORM It is better absorbed

Most people are deficient in omega-3 fatty acids.
One tablespoon should provide a good ratio of what you need.

For brands, I recommend taking Barleans, Udo's Choice, or Health from the Sun TOTAL EFA

good luck.

Now im a little confused... I take one capsule that contains all omega 3*6*9 all in 1. And also one capsule of fish oil. Am I doing this wrong? Do I need to buy the 3 6 & 9 separately? Also what is fish oil considered? An omega 3?

Anyone know about this? Thanks smile.gif

They should be in the right ratio if they are already combined. Most supplement companies do keep this ratio in mind. Udo's oil (what I usually use) contains all three in a good ratio. Fish oils contain DHA and EPA, which are Omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids derived from linolenic acid........Getting even more omega-3 then the 2:1 ratio is fine, just so long as you aren't deficient in Omega-6....the ratio can be as high as 4:1 Omega-3 to Omega-6 (it is this high in certain parts of the world, where the diet is mainly composed of fatty fish).........It's fine to take more Omega-3 than you need.....after all it's just fat ....it's okay as long as the body gets all the Omega-6 it needs......if you alre seriouisly lacking omega-6 you will have cracked heels and scaly skin (linoleic acid is really important for epidermal barrier function).........I think you are probably fine....most people don't even pay attention to this ratio....
