So i took my last accutane pill on october 19... so its been 2 weeks or so and I was wondering how long i should wait to use glycolic acid on my face?
I am not talking about a peel..... I have a lot of proactive toner and it has glycolic acid in it and wanted to know how long i should wait till i use it.

I would REALLY appreciate all advise i could get. I realize about 99% of the people on here arent dermatologists but i would like to get insight on what you would do.
Background: I was def a borderline candidate for accutane in the first place. I would get them but only a few at a time persistently. I'm a 20 years old male and my weight is about 63kg and have taken a total of 6420mg so far. So its about 101mg/kg. This is week 18. Is that extra 20mg to reach 120mg/kg really that important? I am have an EXTREMELY HARD time emotionally dealing with the facial redness/irritation (started seeing therapist to help me deal with it...which i wont lie--hasn't helped much since i still cant face even my best friends and have not left my house for the past few months except occasionally go to lecture for class or an exam). I still get the odd pimple every few days, but i think no one else besides me would even notice them because they are so small...i only notice them when my face is about 2-3 inches from mirror. WHAT WOULD U DO? I only ask because I dont think my derm dose the total dose (and i think she is retarted). I think she does it just based on time(5 months). My checkup last week to start my 5th month she said I was done because she thought i was already on it for 5 months until i pulled out my phone and checked the calendar of when i started (june 13) which is only 4 months.. so i got another month prescription.

Just starting month 5 today----
ive been using cetaphil ultra moisturizer (24 hour) and was just wondering.. can you use to much? I am still getting some spots and thinking maybe im using to much? Around my beard at the spot where the hairs and the skin meet, you can see some sticking around the the hair and skin and maybe this is what is doing it?

So I am going to be asking my derm this question at my appointment monday. But i thought it would be interesting to see what others on here would have to say about the subject.
I've read and see many times that derms aim for a total dose of 120mg/kg - 150mg/kg throughout your course. Now, accutane is for "severe acne" where scarring may be present. So i am assuming that the 120-150 is directed for those with the "definition of severe acne" When you are on accutane for mild-moderate acne (persistent.. maybe 2-4 at a time(rarely-if ever a cyst..mostly papules/pustlues), but by the time those heal 2-4 more appear.) Does that 120-150 really qualify? I was just thinking about this because i know that accutane shrinks your oil glands, so if your acne wasn't as "severe" in terms of the accutane label, do you really need as much? I would assume that getting to 120mg/kg would be a safe bet just incase... but was just curious at what you guys think. Now prob 99.9% here arent derms, so I wouldnt expect a definite answer(which I will get from my derm monday hopefully and share with you guys) But what do you guys think on the subject..... |
