PS when on the pill how clear IS clear? is it like not a single spot appears or its just kept under control with little ones here and there? pps my acne seems to have got minutely worse since Ive been taking the pill. does this usually happen? thanks guys comments very much appreciated |

Everyone responds differently but I have heard that you need to give it at least 3 months before seeing improvement. Ideally, the pill balances your hormones and prevents spots from forming, and many women find that the pill does clear them completely. The problem is that when you go off of it your acne will very likely come back, which sucks... I guess you just have to either stay on the pill or find topicals / supplements that will maintain clear skin. It also depends which pill you're taking -- you need to be careful because certain pills -- like Alesse, Estrostep FE, Levlen, Loestrin 1.5/30, Loestrin 1/2 Fe, and Ovral actually have androgenic effects and are more likely than other pills to actually cause acne in some (not all) women. Pills that are recommended for women with acne are Yasmin, Ortho-tri-Cyclen, Dianette, Demulen 1/50, Brevicon, Mircen, Modicon, Necon. But really it can be hit and miss, like I say everyone's body responds differently. |
