When I first started writing this post at the beginning of the summer, I was in the throes of the initial breakout caused by starting topical retinoids. Hyper-keratinized plugs and god-knows-what-else built up in my pores, and now the retinoid was forcing it out. My face erupted in multiple places with huge, swollen bumps. As each lesion resolved, 2or 3 new ones would begin forming on skin still red and tender from the previous weeks breakout. The only thing keeping me sane was this: I have a pretty good understanding of how retinoids work, and I knew there would be a light at the end of the tunnel.

aha (every other night)
been breaking out a lot recently . for the past few weeks it was just small pimples. now it's big pimples. fortunately it's just localized on my right cheek and it's not everywhere. i dont have 100% clear skin as i do have a lot of small comedones and i don't expect 100% clear skin. i just hope these big zits go away!! hopefully this stops. i havent been using the recommended full amount of bp for the longest time( because it gives me the reddest and dullest skin) and it was working fine until now.
I recently had a terrible acne flare up. I have been suffering from acne since I was 10 and I'm 29. I had two laser treatments and the last round cause some serious flare up. The Derm recommended Accutune but I"m afraid of the side effects. Today is my first day tying Doxycycline and Retina A . I hope it works. I'm also trying it on my back.
- cleared up intensely but broke out 4 huge pimples recently
- still incredibly oily
-not taking any supplements anymore
- added glycolic soap, salicylic acid, clindamycin toner and benzoyl peroxide
-i have regular dermatologist appointments now for glycopeel cleaning
-in three months, i underwent 8 glycopeel cleaning, 8 blue light therapies and 2 tretinoin/3 step peels
After having tried countless products from my doctor (including antibiotics, topicals), and various birth controls (yasmin, yaz, marvelone), this pill seems to be finally working! Seriously recommend to any girl who has acne and has tried other BC options, this one is best at limiting testosterone (which I think is the cause of my acne)
On Spironlactone (did see results a few months--cysts stopped on neck and jaw, been on it for about ten, then stopped working, i.e. return of the cysts), seeing if it was the manufacturer change that made my hormones out of whack...
