OK what I'm gonna advise might come as a shock, but trust me it's what you should do.

Take out the clearisil - it won't do anything/only make things worse.

Take out the proactiv - ditto.

You can keep up the bha, but the real thing you must focus on is the BP

I use 5%, apply it morning and night, spreading it all over, and for the last month, i've had 1 spot.

10%, I do not advise - it would be too aggravating, I imagine.

It'd be useful if you could send a picture, because it's hard imagining, because acne varies a lot.

In terms of sunscreen and moisturizer - make sure these are non comedogenic and are free of irritating substances - list here : http://www.dermaxime.com/acne-comedogenic-ingredients.htm

Also assess what you are eating - what is your dairy, and more importantly, milk intake like?
Dairy products have a proven detrimental effect on acne, and when I got rid of it from my diet, I did notice an improvement, OVER TIME.

The key is to be patient.

Finally, check your body wash/shampoo. It may contain substances that will affect your skin. Last april, I tried out a shampoo which had selenium sulfide in, which is apparently good for acne and pityrosporum follulitis, but little did I know about Sodium Laureth and Sodium Lauryl sulfate - these are 2 highly comedogenic ingredients, found in most shampoos. I now use shampoos containing ammonium laureth/lauryl sulfate and they function as a face wash also smile.gif

If you check my accutane log with the link below, you can see pictures of me, and the red marks from april this year, when I had an explosion, due to this shampoo, and not using BP and trying out irritating products, like clearisil and Witch Hazel.

If you seriously want to end it and not have to worry how long or short your hair is just get on the acne.org regimen for a few solid months strictly. You can fool around with a ton of products and believe me i've done it. But I am confident this regimen can end your problems.

well i had a ton of comedones or whatever, just like tiny fleshcolored bumps under the skin. like a clogged pore. all i know is that they are gone now and i think its from regimen specifically the aha.

Lots of people claim that aha has helped it. Probable due to the exfoliating properties of the aha so that your pores arent plugged up.

all i can say is it directly helped me. and that was my problem exactly.

Yeah see what he says.. he might say something like go on a retiniod.. which i would avoid at all costs. I bounced around a while looking franticly for something.. finally i just settled on dan's recommended over the counter products and stictly followed the regimen. good luck.

i was just looking at your posts and you've done exactly what i did.. honey masks, baking soda exfoliation.. the whole natural thing.. masks. all i can say is if that stuff did anything to me it made it worse.

if you don't already, look at reviews for all the products and prescriptions. hundreds of people tell exactly how it worked for them. like heres ziana's reviews --> http://www.acne.org/ziana-gel-reviews/406/page1.html

all i know is that ziana is a retinoid mixed with an antibiotic, climdamyicin. it seems like the best retiniod and like i said thats what doctors prescribe usually for this kind of problem.. I was prescribed a retiniod (retin-a) and i used it for a week or two, it was the worst constant breakout of my life. almost everyone goes through an initial breakout. if you read about it youll hear what im saying. the initial breakout lasts anywhere between 1 week to 2 months it seems like. and then sometimes great improvement comes and you look better than ever after some time... so its your call. i couldnt stand the initial breakout. but if you do follow through with your prescription be patient and know that it will get better even if it is getting worse at the moment.

like i said though, i believe you'll see better, and less painful results if you follow to acne.org regimen with products you can find at the average walgreens. if you havent just look at it.
