I've been on 20 mg for approximately 5 months now (though I was on 10 mg for my first month), and was told by my derm today that 'things look good' so he's stopping my course come December (month 6). I told him I was still breaking out, and he responded by saying that Accutane "doesn't clear breakouts completely." Uh, excuse me...? He's all but ignored me when I've said I want to reach my cumulative dose, because I'm not on Accutane as 'maintenance therapy' (who is?) - I want this acne to be gone for as long as possible.

What should I do?

Has anyone experienced this before?

I'm not having horrific side effects or anything like that, so he's not limiting my course for that reason. I think he's decided to take me off it because he sees 'improvement' and that's good enough for him. FYI he does dermatology on the side and is primarily a plastic surgeon, which could explain why he seems - well - uninformed.

I have a month window to find a new dermatologist. Is this enough time? I'm stressing, here. Advice is very much appreciated.

I have somewhat coarse, but healthy hair - I've never dyed it and I don't heat-style it. Since going on Accutane, though, it's lost its luster... it looks kind of like straw and hardly has any shine at all. It also feels dry to the touch.

Can anyone recommend some treatments or products I could use on my hair? Preferably something that won't weight it down, because that's usually what they tend to do at the end of the day. My hair appreciates your advice, thanks.

I have very pronounced red marks all over my cheeks (which are taking ages to fade thanks to Accutane), and am trying to figure out better ways to cover them. I also have mild pitted scarring, but the marks are mainly what mar my complexion.

What I do:

1) Apply a light/medium coverage foundation all over with a stippling brush (MAC 187)
2) Dot on MAC Studio Finish concealer from the pot with my fingers
3) Blend lightly + reapply where needed
4) Stipple one another light layer of foundation to even out tone
5) Set with pressed powder (only when I'm going somewhere important, though)

This doesn't cover everything, not even close really, but I don't know what else I could do. I tried a concealer brush because I thought that might help, but it distribute concealer too lightly.

How do you guys conceal your red marks? Full coverage foundation? Concealer? And how well does it work for you?

A relative of mine works in a pharmacy, and advised me not to take any supplements while on Accutane - *especially* not to take handfuls of different kinds of supplements, as they would tax my liver.

Thing is, I've been very exhausted lately (probably due to Accutane), and can't but feel like supplements would help raise my energy level. I'm also trying to detox from caffeine, which I drink frequently and to excess, and think the supplements would help out with that.

Can anybody offer some advice or insight? Should supplements (I'm thinking especially of taking the B-Vitamins and Vit C) be taken at all? Should I just take vitamins at a different time of day? Take them a couple times a week? Thanks.

I know a lot of you will be getting dressed up for Halloween, but how will you manage your makeup?

I'm thinking of going boring and sticking to "vampire" or "zombie" (the latter is preferable, as I really don't want to be mobbed by Twilight fangirls)... either way, my costume ideas require semi-dramatic makeup. I'd really like to use fake blood as well, but don't think I can smear this all over my face without facing dire consequences. It would definitely be fun to go all out though, and wear the most ridiculous makeup ever.

How are you guys going to deal with Halloween makeup? What do you plan on using?

Sidenote: I love this holiday so much.
