Im not sure if this is what I have or not. I looked up pictures but most were bad cases.
When I do nothing to my face, no washing, treating, or moisturizing, just let it be as it is naturally, heres how it is. I have constant dead flaking skin, mainly on my chin area, occasionally on my nose and the sides, sometimes cheek bones, but mainly my chin. I can rub it off, but it will be right back the next day. On top of this of course, I have inflamed acne on my chin area and my face often gets red and burns. I often seem to get these big red rashes/bumps that look like mosquito bites, that itch really bad but after an hour or so go away leaving no sign that they were even there. Ive been using salicylic acid which has done a good job keeping away the dead skin. But I was wondering if what I have is seborrheic dermatitis. Ive always assumed that the constant dead skin was from the years use of acne treatments. At one point i used BP which made my face so dry that it actually peeled and bled. I assumed i just ruined my skins barrier and its ability to function properly, but now im wondering. If per chance I think i might have this, how would I go about getting it diagnosed? I have a problem going to derms thinking I might have something, explaining my situation and they so no no its something opposite and give me more acne meds. Any help would be great. thanks

Im about at my one month mark of using paulas choice 2% bha. I use it morning and night.
My skin is normally flaky and dead skin builds up, its taken care of that. My inflammatory acne is better. But its still there and i really havent seen any change in my blackheads. My skin truthfully doesnt even seem to be any smoother. It still looks rough, like sandpaper. Is it to soon to tell or do you think its time to move on? I love salicylic acid. It is so gentle on my skin and never irritates or dries it out. But if its not going to clear up my problems then I need to move on. Next is retinol. I really didnt want to spend a lot of money, BHAs are cheap, and I dont want a treatment thats going to dry my skin out, but if i need to go to retinol then i will. Any thoughts?

I found these and i thought maybe they would be better alternatives to flavor my water than some of the ones out there.
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp...amp;catid=32592 there is a link, theres a couple but i picked that one. Does anyone think it would be ok to use? In case the link gets deleted, its basically a dropper bottle full of liquid you add to your water Glycerin, Honey (Organic), Purified Water, Natural Flavors, White Tea Extract (99% polyphenols, 60% EGCG), Burdock Root (organic), Citrus Rind Extract, Lo Han Guo Extract, White Tea Leaf (organic), Dandelion (organic), Red Clover Blossom (organic), Green Coffee Berry Extract, Licorice Root Extract Ingredients above and it also says * High Yield Polyphenols: EGCG * 1 serving=EGCG content of 8 cups of black tea

Ive always liked salicylic acid. For some reason it sits really well with my skin.
I just ordered some of Paulas choice 2% gel. Ive been using these pads my derm gave me which I like for day use. I decided to move to twice a day rather than only at night. Do you think this is over exfoliating? I know medically they say its not, but I wanted other peoples opinions. I have these stubborn blackheads and on top of that inflammatory acne, BHA's seem to work well for both, but doesnt quite clear everything up. Im hoping twice a day will.

So Im looking for a new moisturizer. Everything makes me oily, I use cerave and it doesnt make me extremely greasy looking, but I still gave a slightly greasy look.
I was looking for something simple and thought what about hyaluronic acid? I know professional solutions sells a 100% solution, what they call a liquid moisturizer which has the same ingredients but im assuming less of the acid, and also a cream. I was going to try one of the liquids first. I have dry skin however and im not sure if this will be enough to moisturize. I know HA can hold 1000 times its weight in water, but I dont know how good it is by itself. Anyone have any experiences? I may try it internally to. |

hey i read your comment about using coconut oil. i would NOT recommend it. it is highly comedogenic. check out this site for other comedogenic ratings: http://www.zerozits.com/Articles/acnedetect.htm i would suggest camellia or jojoba oil since they are not comedogenic :) 22 Jan 2008 - 14:27 Last Visitors
