I live in MN and every October or so my acne gets much worse and then it clears up when it starts getting warmer outside....like April. My skin gets so dry that I can peel off layers almost. Does anyone have any experience with this...is it the dry air that causes my acne to flare up. I was thinking about going out and buying a humidifier? Any help would be appreciated.
My bio: I had really great skin up until I graduated from college, then it all started. I've tried various prescription medications.....Cleocin-T, Tazorac, etc. and actually started seeing very positive results from the above mentioned combination this summer. But no longer because of the cold weather. :x

Hi, I've just started using BP again only Im baffled, cause my skin doesnt even turn remotely red or sensitive, even when totally slathered on, or rubbed in. Is my skin not going to react to it?? The cream i use is 5%, so stronger than Dans recommendation of 2.5, but i couldnt find any of that percentage. Surely though you'd expect my skin to flare up even more red, not the opposite?!!!

Has anyone had Microdremabrasion, peels, Laser surgery or cool touch? I am trying to get rid of mild acne scars and the dreadful red marks. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Lisa

I've been on and off the regimen for some time now and all i've gotten is an extreemly red face () where I applied the BP. It really does look like shit. The BP didn't help my acne at all and on top of that my face is bright red.

Man ever since I started using the B-5 Powder... which seems like its starting to work, I get way more headaches than I used to. I just pop a couple tylenol and lay down and they seem to go away real fast but I had some really painfull ones at work. It seems every week I get a headache now... will this pass? as I continue using B-5? or is it a sign that I should stop? cause I'll take headaches over acne any day.
Any advice?

I realised I needed to do something about my acne just this morning, I woke up late and when I was shaving the sun was in a funny area not where is usually is and lit up my whole face properly I could see very single spot properly and I've got quite a few bumps (only a few red spots but dozens of bumps). Before that I was obviously bothered by it but I didn't really make it a big deal.
Anyway I've been using Clean and Clear Cleansing Lotion for a while according to the ingredients its got Benzoic Acid which is what benzoyl peroxide breaks down into in the skin(?), so why doesn't this do anything for me? Isn't it the same as using a 2.5% BP cream (the bottle doesnt' give a concentration)? Or do I need to use the cream? I also recently started using tea tree oil and it seems to have stopped large painful sports (not cysts (which I don't get) just spots) from developing (its only been about a week since I started).
Also I read you should only clean your face twice a day but my face gets REALLY oily. Surely this will clog up the pours even more if I don't wash it out? If I rub my finger accross my nose a oil just rubs off onto my finger that's how bad it gets.
I guess what I'm trying to ask is; is my Cleanser with Benzoic Acid the same as using BP cream?
Thanks in advance for any help.
NB: Do they sell Neutrogena On-The-Spot in the UK?

The regimen says apply the Neutrogena On-the-Spot to the problem areas. What if I have a pimple here, a pimple there, a pimple somewhere.. then where how much/where would I use it? Can I just spread it across my entire face? This should help prevent future breakouts.. shouldn't it? thanks.

Ok I was clear Before using B-5 from www.acnemiracle.com from the BP regimen on Dan's site, but I still had the ocassional cyst type formation which was really annoying... you know the kinda pimple that the BP regimen alone cannot treat.
so, I got the B-5 with the optizinc in it and started taking 10g a day (teaspoon with water 3 times a day) about 2.5 to 3.5 weeks ago. It states that there should be a breakout in this time frame which currently I am experiencing (cystic types that dont really surface but stay sore and red a bit and then leave redness) which sucks, but nothing too serious. about 2 or 3 of them. As before I started B-5 I would only have 1 or two at a given time.
I posted about this before and I dont wanna be annoying or anything :? but I have a couple questions more if anyone who knows anything about B-5 treatment can help.
First of all is 10 g a day enough? (a teaspoon with a cup of water/juice 3 times a day and 15 mins. b4 meals) or more? or less? or am I on the right track.
Will I stop breaking out soon? it says in the first 2 to 4 weeks but if I am still breaking out in a week or two (which would make it about a month and a half of treatment) what should I do?
I spent alot of money shipping this stuff here so I would like to see some results... Its kinda early to make a judgement on the product but after one month and a half I should be seeing no new acne... right? or do I breakout for 4 months or what...? Im kinda confused.
Some advice and help would be appreciated. :?

Hi,
I was reading somewhere about the effectiveness of topical niacinamide (vitamin b3).
I was wondering, what if I did the following:
take b5 for general acne control (how much should i take btw?)
take b3 pills, grind em into powder, and mix it with 100% aloe vera gel (does aloe vera help with red marks? the marks are the only thing i'm really concerned about...) Some guy said 5 pills per 2 oz of aloe vera...I'm getting a bottle of 6 oz aloe so 15 pills per bottle i guess...
I really dread sweating with BP (i'm a very sweaty person), as it looks like i'm sweating milk. I figure that this would control oil and fade red marks without the mess...what do you think? Anyone tried this?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm considering using B5 and aloe vera for these silly red marks...
Do either of them work well? (b5 for acne control and aloe for healing red marks) If so, how should I use them? (I'm especially curious as to how much b5 I should take)
Thanks

I am 35 years of age and have suffered with acne for nearly 25 years. I have tried Retin A and many different antibiotics with no great success. I was told when I was 12 that I will grow out of it, well I am still waiting for that to happen. I have tried BP with some success and after each new acne medication failure always end up going back to it. At the begining of this year I have discovered a cream called glycolic 21 (10%), this cream contains glycolic acid and is marketed as a wrinkle cream or sun damaged cream. I have find this cream very helpful for my skin and can be more drying than bp so only use a little. My skin has never looked better and its good for wrinkles as well.

I have a couple of questions that i am having difficulty answering.
1) I am currently using Retin A at 0.05% it works well, i went from moderate to mild acne. However, i always have atleast one or two pimples. I asked my derm for Retin A at 0.1% and he said no. Eventually, i got him to give it to me tho. He warned me that it would be really strong and cause alot of peeling etc.... SO my question is, since it is basically the same product (only different strengths) can i alternate usage. Ex: 5 times a week with 0.05% and twice a week with 0.1%. Or will that be too stressful for my skin?? Is it better to be constant? After all, it is the same product.
2) I need a really good moisturizer which is EXTRA gentle and still works well. The past few i have tried all caused me to break out (Marcelle, Aveda....) any recommendations?

- Hi Everybody! It has been so long since this board has been up! Talk about frustrating!
Well, about 2 weeks ago, my skin started looking bad! Two months of the SkinClean and the Vitacure zinc/copper had worked and then disaster! I resorted to buying the Shiseido Pureness line and it was awful the first two days! I mean awful! So went back to SkinClean and then bought some Clinique Acne solution for night. Have used it 3 nights and it seems to be working. Bret of SkinClean got back to me and said to try the #1 & #2 Clinque toner for now, as I get the oiliest skin! Also, they are developing a cleanser that is a little gentler which may help my skin, as it is a combo of being very oily, very very fair, but sensitive! The SC exfoliates daily, which may be a bit much for me.
Let me know how all of you on SkinClean are doing. If this does not work, I may resort to Accutane which I do not want to do at all, but folks, it gets discouraging. I am back east right now until this Thursday visiting for 6 days.
Newcastlegirl with lots of greetings!
