...I'm aware that: QUOTE "Before taking Accutane, you should tell your doctor if you are also taking a tetracycline antibiotic such as demeclocycline (Declomycin), doxycycline (Doryx, Vibramycin), minocycline (Minocin), or tetracycline (Brodspec, Sumycin, Tetracap)." But can anyone tell me why specifically? What exactly happens or can happen? Do the two interfere with one another, rendering one or both useless? Can anyone answer my question from first hand experience taking Accutane at the same time as an antibiotic? Or give me some specific information as to what can or will happen? I'm looking for some real information, not just speculation. Anyone with knowledge in this capacity please respond and thank you in advance.

I used 10% glycolic acid lotion for like 3 months and I really believe it helped a lot with my skin. When I first started using it, of course it really irritated my skin, but after a month or so of using it, my skin responded much better. I got pretty much clear for a couple months and thereafter didn't use the glycolic acid very much.
Anyway, in the last couple of weeks I started breaking out again, so I stepped up the usage of the glycolic acid. Before it had really helped stop zits from surfacing that were on their way, and sent them retreating. When I felt or saw one forming under the skin, I would pile on the glycolic acid and it would go away in a couple days. I also used it all over my face as a preventative measure. Instead it caused several new pimples to form over night in places where I normally don't even get them. It made the ones I had way worse, and brought old faded dark marks completely back to life! Of course it took a couple days for me to figure out what was going on. I tried to blame it on anything but the glycolic acid, it had helped so much in the past and I never had a bad reaction to it. Over the next week I experimented to try and see if I could pin it on anything else, meanwhile had I stopped using the glycolic acid for a few days. I wanted to be sure, so I tried it again, and things went from bad to worse to horrible. It causes really bad inflammation where ever it touches my skin, and as stated above: it brings my old marks back to life, causes new ones to form, and makes current ones wayyyy worse. I went from virtually clear skin, to looking terrible in about two weeks. And primarily I have glycolic acid to thank for it. My only conclusion is that I have somehow developed a bad allergy to it. It is important to note that I used it for months before this happened. Now I'm in hiding for however long it takes me to get better... Not trying to scare anyone away from using glycolic acid, like I said it really worked great for a couple months; but if you begin to suspect that its making things worse, you may want to stop before it develops into a full-blown breakout cycle. I certainly wish I had.

I feel just fucking awful. I had been doing really well for quite a while and then over the last like 3 days I have broken worse that I have in months for no apparent reason, I haven't done anything different. And wouldn't you know it? I get a call back on an application and now I have an interview in less than 4 days. I tell myself that I'm going to clear up enough to look decent in time, but its like I get new breakouts every time I look in the mirror. And before anyone says "well, its because you're stressing about it", I'm not. Or at least I wasn't. NOW I am. But I wasn't stressing when I got these new zits. I started stressing after I got this interview lined up.
Shit fuck damn. How much profanity can I write in my own thread? Fucking goddamn pig-fucking shitty acne. I don't care what people say, it fucking does ruin your life whether you "let" it or not. I'm going to go to this interview no matter what, but I am seriously contemplating having my girlfriend put makeup all over my face. Will that work? Or will they just think I'm a weirdo wearing makeup? Fuck this. God damn this fucking shit. I just want to fucking rip my face off. If I were like a burn victim or something people would take pity, but when they look at someone with acne they think we're like dirty or something, that we don't wash our face, like we can just go out and buy some fucking oxy-pads and it will all go away. I feel like I've been fucking cursed. I know, I know, boo-hoo right? Be thankful that I don't have it worse right? Fuck you if that's what you're thinking. Seriously, fuck, you. No one should have it, and it doesn't make me feel the god damn slightest bit better that other people have it worse. That like telling someone who just broke their leg, "Hey, cheer up bro! At least you didn't break you leg as bad as that guy did." Fuck that. Am I the only one who recognizes how fucking stupid that is? "Hey buddy, your acne could be a lot worse, be thankful it isn't." Fuck you people who say that. No one is going to be thankful that they have acne, regardless of whether its severe or not. "Man up bro, stop being such a pussy, its just acne". Fuck you people too. That's what this section is for: whining like a pussy about how much it sucks having acne, and how shitty our lives have become because of it. So if you are one of those whom responds to these threads by telling people not to, then feel free to fuck yourself sideways. I don't care if anyone reads this, and I don't care if anyone responds, I wrote this to vent a bit, and perhaps I have. Now I'm going to go drink as many beers as I can before passing out. P.S. Fuck the world.

I know using the two together will cause increased irritation, but is there a chance that either benzoyl peroxide or AHA, when applied to the skin after Hydroquinone, will prevent the Hydroquinone from working to it's fullest?
Does anyone know? Wynne? Someone? Anyone? Thanks in advance

When I first came to this site I began by experimenting with blue light therapy, some may have read my "420nm Blue Light Treatment Log". Since then my "regimen" as they call it around here, has become much more involved. And so the time has come to start a new treatment log which better describes how I'm getting clear.
***EDIT*** I've Goals: Consistently clear skin + Erasing evidence of acne. Terms: Affordable treatments in privacy of own home, with NO prescriptions. Current Status: -(2/15/08) No breakouts for 9 days, red marks fading slowly. -(2/26/08) Got a single pimple 3 days ago, good sized one at that. Otherwise clear. -(3/4/08) No breakouts since 2/26, red marks fading, need to even out skin tone. -(3/23/08) Big god damn breakouts, and I don't own a gun. -(3/31/08) So fucking pissed at my skin I'm thinking about taking the cheese-grater to it. -(4/1/08) Totally changed regimen, starting to feel a tiny bit better, skin showing slight improvement. -(4/2/08) No new zits or BP for 48 hours, healing has increased, feeling better about life. -(5/14/08) Very nearly total clear skin, 1 blemish (not active), not used BP since 3/31 and may never again, skin tone looks good. Very brief background (because most don't want to read it): Several rounds of Accutane=periods of remission but acne always returned, nearly every topical retinoid and antibiotic=unsatisfactory results, various OTC products=mixed results. I've had acne since age 13, the worst of which was during my teenage years when I suffered from horrible cystic/nodular acne all over my face, chest, back, and even upper arms. Now into my adulthood suffering from somewhat mild but very stubborn adult onset acne. But by some wondrous grace given to me by the powers that be: despite the severity of my teenage acne, I have Okay, on to what products I use on my face. Morning: In shower:
Out of shower:
Evening:
On to the supplements: Morning As soon as I get up I take:
Noon: With a meal containing saturated fat:
Late afternoon/early evening:
Night: (about an hour before bed):
Miscellaneous stuff I do:
Well, that about covers it for now. I have a few new products coming which I will surely write about when the time comes. These include: MaMa lotion samples, Sudocrem, and Complex 15. Feel free to ask any questions. I will update this log whenever I feel like it. Best wishes to everyone. |
