My Acne History

Hello everyone, this is my first entry! I've been hearing about this website a lot and I can't believe it's taken me this long to make an account here haha

Alright - I've had acne since middle school. It was around high school that I tried Proactiv, but the effects of that only lasted for a few months. I've tried the usual over the counter cleansers and home remedies, but it wasn't enough.

A little more than a year ago I started seeing a dermatologist. I visit every month to see how my skin's doing, as well as for chemical peels. I've been stuck on a 20% peel for maybe a year now, and my derma says I should try for 30% next time neutral.gif

I believe my first prescription was Doxycycline and a topical that I really can't remember the name of. She also recommended I begin washing my face with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash. After telling my derma that Doxycycline was giving me lightheadedness & nausea every single morning, she changed my prescription to Solodyn (105 mg) and Epiduo.

Months later I mentioned to her that I'd stopped taking Solodyn for about a month (can't remember why) and so she rose my dosage to 115 mg. That's when I noticed that based on my weight that was a pretty high dosage; I should've been prescribed 80 mg, but I figured hey she's the derma so she probably knows what's best.

I continued with the Solodyn, one pill every morning, and Epiduo, every night, for about a year, and did notice my face was significantly better than before. There were even some days where I had almost an entirely clear face.

However, about a year later, I faced the severity of taking a higher dosage of a medication than recommended. I'll spill about that on a later post~
