Day 12

Today is day 12! Think I'm experiencing the initial breakout. As of yesterday I'm taking 50 mg per day of accutane, 30 mg in the morning and 20 mg in the evening. Last night when taking off my makeup I had 3 pimples on my left cheek, one or two of which is a cyst, 2 on my forehead (which is almost always clear), one on my chin, and then today two more on my upper lip and at least another on my right cheek. This absolutely blows. I'm hoping this is an IB, as I don't normally breakout on my forehead like this and it is nearing the end of the second week. I'm just hoping it goes away soon since my acne is never this bad and was mild to moderate to begin with. Support and any useful information would be SO APPRECIATED. This is so depressing, I can't even look in the mirror.

Yeah my forehead went crazy after starting accutane and it was normally clear, it's a pain but it means that it's working, next you should notice a decrease in oil production. The IB can vary a lot person to person but I hope you have a short one.

It will be okay! Just think, an Initial Breakout means the Accutane is beginning to work on your skin. You can do this and it will pay off in the long run! Just keep your head up. You're doing everything you possibly can.

Thanks so much for the support guys. I feel a lot better today, seeing my skin really dry up. I'm obviously not too keen on the peeling skin (today's new addition) but at least the pimples will soon dry up with it (will they?) I really hope this is the initial breakout and that I clear up from here on out. I just need to remind myself that 3 months from now, I should be clear. I was self conscious even making out with a guy I'm dating a few days ago because of my skin and didnt want the make up to rub off. :(
