So I think I had an initial breakout on this skin care regimen because my pores were getting rid of dirt/oil. But, my face is actually fairly clear besides a couple of small red marks that are easily hidden with concealer. I don't really like that my face feels a bit tight after using the PanOxyl wash in the morning, but since it has Benzoyl Peroxide in it, that is to be expected. After take my oral antibiotic, I apply a bit of the topical antibiotic to my entire face and let it dry. Then, I apply the CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion and my face feels great. To see the skin care regimen I am following, look back to post #3.
Overall, I'm pretty excited. I'm somewhat annoyed that I have to wait 30 days to be registered in the I-Pledge system before I can start Accutane, because I really wanted to get my first month or so out of the way before I go back to school, but you can't always schedule everything out. In my head I'm thinking--what if I just keep on this skin care regimen and wait to take Accutane, but I've done this before. I've put off taking the long-term solution. I know the first month or two on Accutane might cause my skin to get dry and flaky, which being in my Senior Year of college won't be fun. But then again, hopefully my skin will clear up and I will have clear skin for the end of fall, Christmas, New Year's, Spring Break, Spring, Graduation, next summer, etc., etc.
If anyone wants to help validate this with their experiences, I'd really appreciate it! I need some words of encouragement and someone to say, "go for it. you can do it. the first couple months may be somewhat sucky, but you'll get through it, and the long-term benefit of having consistently clear, beautiful skin is worth it."
