1 month pre-accutane and accutane log

Entries in this blog

Hi! Sorry I haven't made any entries lately. Not very much to say. I'm starting Accutane on the 17th. I'm a little nervous.

School started up 3 or 4 weeks ago. Haven't gotten a whole lot of homework yet. Hopefully it'll be a good year! I'm currently working on college applications. :P

Here's how my skin is doing right now:

Still have quite a few bumps, but I think it's definitely gotten a little better. I've been changing my pillow case more often and instead of using a hand towel to dry my face after washing, I've been using paper towels. I've been picking at my face less, but as a result I've started picking at my nails/cuticles more!! wacko.png A few days ago I went to Ulta and bought this in Light:

I've been wearing it as my daily foundation! It has nice lasting coverage! I like it a lot. It's pretty expensive though, so hopefully it will last a long time...

That's all there really is to say. I'll post a new entry once I start Accutane!

Hi guys. I keep getting new pimples!! At least they're not really bad ones, not nodular or anything. Just whiteheads (closed comedones). I always have little blackheads (closed comedones) on my nose and chin.

So I've been reading about The Regimen and I really like the Product Guide. It's really helpful. I looked online at some of the ingredients in some products I'd been using that I had suspicions about, and of course they had ingredients that clog pores! I've been cleaning out my bathroom, getting rid of beauty products and things that expired or that I don't use...I still have WAY too much makeup.

BB creams and CC creams are a big fad right now. I've only tried the Aveeno Clear Complexion BB cream. I always have to put powder foundation over it because it hardly has any coverage. It's pretty sheer. I probably won't repurchase it, it's kind of overpriced. I still have a lot left though, so maybe it's not that overpriced because it lasts a long time. I really want to try Yes to Grapefruit CC Cream. I know that grapefruit can react with antibiotics badly, but I think that only happens when you eat it? I don't know. The only thing I'm really worried about is this cream being too sheer and not having enough coverage. Maybe I'll wait to get it until after my skin clears up. tongue.png

My derm said he thinks I won't break out as much during the first few months of Accutane because I'm going to start it at a low dose and I'm still going to be taking Amoxicillin for the first month. I hope he's right! My parents don't think I'll break out much too because they didn't break out much when they took it. My dad took it during the late 80's. My mom took it twice but I don't know when she took it.

I forgot to use Ziana at least once this week and skipped Aczone a few times. I hate the way Aczone feels! At first it's fine, like a normal lotion, but then it gets weird. It get likes gritty and greasy feeling, I don't like it. Anyone else feel that way?

I actually took these pictures yesterday...I woke up today with a few new pimples toda. I have quite a few on my forehead right now, probably because of my bangs. tongue.png

Isn't it amazing what makeup can hide?? My acne was pretty bad at the time these photos were taken but you can hardly tell!

I tried acupuncture for the first time today! Some of the needles hurt but most of them didn't.

Pre-Accutane

Hi, I'm Amanda!! I'm 17 years old and about to start my senior year of high school. I've been struggling with acne since 6th grade, but it wasn't nearly as bad then. I've tried Doxycycline (Doryx) and I've gone on and off of Augmentin (Amoxicillin) and recently took Prednisone for a month. Prednisone helped clear me up some but obviously I couldn't stay on it for long term because it's a steroid. Right now I'm on Augmentin and in a month I'm going to start Accutane. Augmentin seems to work well for my skin but my derm won't let me stay on it for the long term because people often become allergic to it? I think he said once that it possibly causes cancer too but I could be wrong. Anyway, I'm going to post some pictures from about two or three weeks ago, while I was taking Prednisone. I was slowly starting to clear up a bit at this point. Right now topically I'm using Ziana (Clindamycin/tretinoin) at night and Aczone (Dapsone) in the morning. In the past I've tried Retin A (Tretinoin) and Epiduo (Adapalene/benzoyl peroxide). I have nodular acne, especially under my jaw. I also have a bad habit of picking at my face! I'm trying to stop!!

I had just washed this face in these pictures. Also I'm wearing my pajama shirt tongue.png Sorry about the bad quality of the pics
