Hey everyone! So today is the end of day 70 and my skins been doing great! atm i have 4 small pimples, two on my upper left cheek, one on my right cheek, and one alongside my chin. All in all I'm pleased with the results i found with RAM ive noticed a lot of fading in my acne marks my skin has a nice smooth texture and im starting to be more confident! i found a great way to combat the dryness and flaking by using the Avene Thermal water spray! its great on my skin and doesnt break me out! im hoping that by the new year my skin will be acne mark free and blemish free! im glad with the amount of patience i had with this product! honestly i wouldve quit after i noticed the initial breakout but im so happy i didnt. im hoping that when i take school photos i wouldnt look like a red splotchy mess. but if i do... then ill get them to edit it out haha. i dont have much to say but! if you look at my photos from my last blog to this one you will notice a huge improvement! well at least i do :$ anyways keep on asking questions! feel free to comment, and dont be afraid to message me haha im a nice guy thanks for all the support once again <3 Please keep in mind that this webcam likes to exaggerate colours so the redness you see isnt the redness that is really there

Alright guys, so its been a while since I've last posted but I'm gonna tell you my new regimen
this is actually the best and easiest on my skin, which isn't half as sensitive as before!
so in the mornings i start with the biotherm homme cleansing gel for normal skin!
-its very gentle
-doesnt scrub or irritate skin
-doesnt leave skin tight
-great on sensitive skin
-wakes my skin up!
how i use it: after i shower i wet my face and put a quarter size (at most) into my palm, i lather it in my hands until it becomes a foam and gently put it on my face for about 10 seconds. Then i wash it off thoroughly not scrubbing the skin but cupping the wear in my hands and going over my face.
Then i use my alcohol based Dalicin, ONLY if i see or feel spots emerging.
I then use a moisturizer i bought at lush. its called vanishing cream!
i use a tiny amount and apply it all over my face
-for oily/ combination skin
-leaves a great scent
-a bit pricy but definitely worth it!
After that i use another lush product! (I'm in love with lush! their natural products are amazing on my skin!) its a toner called Eau Roma Water and its absolutely amazing!
its an extremely moisturizing toner with essential oils rose and lavender it keeps my skin hydrated all day and smells great its also amazing for sensitive skin! Using it is simple, you just spritz it twice over your face and let it absorb into your skin!
During the night, i go through the same process, but i add two other things. after i put the Dalicin on i apply some La Roche Posay effaclar duo spot treatment IF i see or feel spots.
then after i apply my retina-a topical treatment, two pumps all over my face.
twice a week i use a lush face mask... for me its Wednesdays and Sundays i use the oatifix face mask which basically is a mix of oats and bananas, which calms and moisturizes my skin reducing redness! i use it all year round and i absolutely love it!
and once a week, whenever i want or after a stressful day, i use this new face mask I've tried a few times and absolutely loved! its from TheFaceShop and its called the arsenate eco-therapy extreme moisture cotton face mask and i love it! i leave it on for 25 minutes and its extremely cooling and calming. it also keeps my face hydrated and leaves it feeling fresh and amazing.
When I first started this blog. I had absolutely no idea how much it would change my life. The support and help I recieved from you guys was amazing and because of all the positivity, I had motivation to become acne free! I dont remember the last time I looked in the mirror and hated what i saw! This isn't much of a blog, i would think of it as more of a "thank you/this is the end of my journey" blog. Looking back at my previous posts and seeing how much I've changed since then gives me such a sense of nostalgia because I remember a point in time when looking at those photos made me actually cringe. lol now I look at them and I don't even recognise myself. That guy was so many things that I am not. Depressed, isolated, and most of all self hating. This past month I took a life changing trip, and was studying abroad in Italy and the Islands of Malta for a whole month. And among all the laughs, tears, smiles, and heart to heart conversations with some of the most amazing people I have ever met, my teacher told me something that will stick with me for the rest of my life. "Don't wait to be inspired, go out and inspire others." It hadn't hit me until now that in a small insignificant way... that was the reason for this entire blog. I had a goal, to give someone, no matter who it was hope. And I think i can actually say I did that. Now, I guess this is my final entry in this blog. It's weird, I mean i used to use this blog as a sort of escape, but now I'm a person that people confide in with their stories and ask for help.
So I guess this isn't really a goodbye. It's more of a I'll see you later kind of thing.
Thanks for the support and love all of you have shown throughout the past year and some months!
you guys rock and don't worry I'll still make a point to regularly log on and answer your questions! so keep them coming and I'd love to hear your stories! Are you new to the world of acne? are you still battling it? is it messing with your emotional well-being? don't worry I've been there and I know what its like. It gets better!
If you ever need a reply quickly, my email is [email protected], or direct message me on twitter or just plain mention me! @michaeljaredb
so before all of you judge me and tell me "I don’t know what you’re talking about you never had acne." trust me, I’ve been there. And it sucks. It made me want to yell, scream, cry, shout and every possible negative emotion out there and eventually I came to the realization that I would have to live with it. I just wanted to give you guys hope, even if I help one person with their self-confidence I’ll be doing what I originally wanted to do with this blog. So I’ve been on retin a micro for 219 days and I’ve seen amazing results. Great skin is in reach you just have to commit and change your lifestyle. Please no hateful comments because it takes a lot of courage to post these photos and even looking at them made me somewhat emotional. My acne is in no way cured. But it has come a long way since then. My confidence is up! I dress better, eat better, sleep better and most importantly I can look at myself and smile. How many times can you say that when you look in the mirror and see a face full of acne? Now I know a lot of you are desperate for answers and my most important tip is be patient. It’s the best thing you can do. Get rid of those habits! Don’t eat crap everyday exercise and have fun! I’m not saying go vegan, I’m just saying watch what you eat, our bodies react differently to different foods and only you can figure out what those reactions are. Treat yourself once in a while, and by while I mean every two weeks or every month. I know habits like scratching and picking at your face are really hard to break but trust me you’ll be happy you did it. When/if your acne does clear up I want you to know that you don’t stop there. You need to continue with everything you’ve been doing. THIS IS A LIFESTYLE whether you like it or not you’re stuck with it. Also after your acne clears up, this DOES NOT mean your acne marks go away magically. They fade over time. It’s been 219 days and all mine haven’t left but they’re basically unnoticeable to the naked eye. I think the best part of this experience was getting that compliment. You know. The one your friend or even a random stranger gives you. "Omg your skin is so clear, are you using makeup or something?" I’m not ashamed of my acne I’m also not proud of it. It’s apart of me and I embrace it. Think looking forward and never look back. please if I helped you in any way leave a comment or send me a msg in my inbox I will get to all of them and I thank each and every one of you who has been following my blog, since the beginning or even if this is your first time seeing this! feel free to ask questions! I love you all! <3 as a last note, my skin is a bit oily because i just came home from dance, and my skin looks really red because of the lighting, its the colour of my forehead in the most recent pics!
Hey everyone! so im just doing a quick little update on my skin **before i start i want to thank everyone for the msgs ive been getting in my message box im still answering questions so keep them coming in haha. anyways my skin is doing amazing! the marks are still there but not close to as noticable as they use to be. i get the occasional blemish but compared to before, this is nothing! ive been really happy with the results ive been getting and i couldnt be happier. i havent changed my routine but i have changed the amount of water and green tea ive been comsuming! it has noticably decreased so im going to try to get more water and green tea back into my system... but thats just about it. feel free to comment and ask questions either here or leave them in my inbox! thanks everyone! <3 **sorry for the awkward photos btw lol also for some reasons, these photos make my face look SUPER red its not red at all.
Hey guys! sorry for the late post haha. ive been really busy with school and haven't had much time. Anyways im at day 99 and im so happy ive seen major improvements with my skin! my tone is more even, my skin is less oily and i have basically no blemishes! I'm so glad RAM is working so well! As well as retin-a micro ive changed up my regiman once again haha. Now im using a "La Roche-Posay" cleanser. it says effaclar on the bottle so im guessing thats the name lol. along with that im using dalacin and a La Roche-Posay spot treatment. its called effaclar duo *ill post photos up later so you guys can see what im talking about! anyways just wanted to drop by and do a quick little update! thanks for all the support once again! later! <3 If you guys have any questions dont be afraid to ask! just leave a msg in my inbox or just leave a comment!
Hey guys, so today i was doing a few things (haircut, shopping and what not) so while i was at the shoppers drug mart i was picking up a travel size avene thermal water to keep at school, the lady working asked about what i was using on my skin so i began to tell her. she told me i should try an exfoliant for my skin and i said no just because i thought it would be bad on my skin to over exfoliate... so while i was checking out the cashier was talking to me and telling me that im messing around with my skin. She said the retin a exfoliates internally but an external exfoliant would help a lot... she also said that using the neutrogena daily cleansing pads are bad for my skin cause they strip oils and make my skin more sensitive than it already is... then she told me that the blotting pads i use promote more oil. she said that the avene thermal water spray is good for me because it helps hydrate and what not. **Im not quoting her on everything she said... i mightve got it wrong. but basically she said that by eliminating the blotting pads and neutrogena pads, i would help regulate my skin. she said that although i said no to buying it she would give me a sample of their gel to try, they also gave me a sample of the avene clearacne regulating lotion. I used the cleanser she gave me and i like it a lot, its a lot more mild than the clinique one and my face isnt half as tight as before... im hesitant about using the lotion though just cause i dont want to break out! can anyone tell me their experience with this lotion in the comments below? i believe the exfoliater she was trying to show me was a biotherm one that you actually use directly on your face... and the gel one i believe is also biotherm. anyways... my face has been doing better no complaints, my blemish on my cheek has flattened out and is becoming less red. and the small whitehead on my chin is gone! No complaints at all. OH WAIT! for those guys who shave... i picked up the schick quatro trimmer razor and i was wondering how good it is. i dont like using the disposable just cause i feel they ALWAYS break me out and i tried my brothers electric trimmer razor and i like it a lot it hasnt broken me out. comment your experience with it! alright well ill be posting again in a few days. Until then chow! <3
Hey guys, so im just doing a little update on my skin. Its the end of day 58 and i just washed my face. i havent noticed much of any changes in my skin. ive noticed i havent been drinking as much water but im trying to drink more. im still drinking my two cups of 'black" green tea morning and night as well as staying out of the sun. Theres a blemish on my nose which wont flatten! but its only been like 3 days so ill give it a week. my skin is still flaky and my acne marks are fading ever so slowly so right now im just being very patient! school starts in less than 2 weeks and im starting to get a bit worried, but im not stressing over it im just hopin and praying i have nice skin for the start of the school year! my skins smoother and less sensitive, however im flaking a bit too much! hopefully next week im able to write a happy entry where im pleased with my appearance. if you guys have any questions feel free to comment or message me. again no hateful comments on my photos im trying to put these up for the benefit of other acne sufferers! and dont mind my pasty face, the light that i was using washed out all the colour off my face haha .thanks <3 **Also when looking at the pictures keep in mind that my face hasnt settled down from washing it! so it will appear more red and distorted than it should!
Hey guys, so i just got home and wanted to do a quick little update... the burning returned but my skin is clearer and more evened out! ive actually been complimented on my skin today which is weird since i do have acne marks but even still thats a big deal! i felt like a giddy young schoolgirl! :$ haha other than that... the flaking is still visible so i picked up some aloe vera gel to carry around with me but other than that nothing really changed. my blemishes are smaller and my skin is surprisingly softer haha ive noticed im getting oily around the bridge of my t zone but the blotting pads my doctor recommended i get is helping with the oil but i thought that RAM dries out your skin which is really annoying cause i hate having oily skin! it makes me feel disgusting. BLAH! one things i love about RAM is that everytime i wake up my skin looks better and better haha. i was just wondering if anyone has tried the vichy proeven treatment and how long it works, i was debating on whether to use that or lemons or just wait for the RAM to clear everything? again im open for questions so just comment or message me <3 thanks guys!
okay so ive been getting a lot of questions from people asking what i use exactly and when so here it is
My regimen is:
Wash face with a mild clinique soap
Pat dry with clean towel
Clean off dirt and whatnot with neutrogena daily cleansing wipes
Apply clyndamycin on my face, (I have the alcohol based one though, I heard it works better than the cream/gel)
Wait for my skin to absorb it
Use the neutrogena rapid something 3-1 moituriser
As I go through my day I use the clyndamycin every hour or so, it really helps with my nodular cysts if I have any
Halfway through the day depending on what I do I may use another daily cleansing pad and I almost always apply the neutrogena 3-1 moisturizer again.
While I'm getting ready to sleep I wash my face with the soap again and go through my morning routine. After I finish that I wait 20 minutes for my skin to dry and apply 2 pumps of retin-a to my face. It sounds like a lot but its really just a repetitive use of 3 things and retin-a
Clinique soap: twice; morning and night
Clydamycin (dalacin): every hour throughout the day (unless I'm out all day)
Neutrogena 3-1 moituriser: 3 times a day; morning, mid day, night
Neutrogena daily cleansing pads: 2-3 times/ day
Retin a: only at night
Okay guys, so this is a post thats VERY hard to share but im hoping that if i can give at least one person hope ill be succeeding with what i initially wanted to do with this post. So if you guys have been following my posts ive talked about having very bad nodular cystic acne and up until now i was so afraid to post any photos just because looking at them hurts me, the pictures show a different person than who i am. And i know thats weird to say considering its been a month and a half but that guy in that photo has no self confidence, didnt want to go out in public, cried a lot because of his skin condition and just felt like nothing was going right for him. The same guy posting this blog however is a confident happy proud guy who cant wait to go to the mall and hang out with his friends. ive noticed a HUGE change in myself since my skin cleared up. right before i started RAM i was depressed and i tried to hide it when i was around my friends and act like there was nothing which worked but that didnt make me feel better. i tried avoiding my problem rather than tackling it head on. My depression caused bad diet bad skin care routine etc... while on RAM i realised something which i probably mentioned in all of my previous blogs. if you want to get rid of your acne you have to change your lifestyle completely. but enough of me talking on and on lol so for the update. my skin still looks great, acne marks are fading, skins smoothing, not as much flaking. still burning but its not as bad as before! my confidence is just rising and i feel great. my health is good, ive been eating right, drinking plenty of water and tea had a can of pop this month but i felt like treating myself for my birthday haha. so the before photos are very personal and quite embarrassing so please dont write any rude comments im trying to show my progress and that better skin is possible with a few changes . leave some questions and comments please and thanks to everyone whose been reading my blog :$ you guys are awesome! hope i can touch one person! and if i do leave a comment or a message in my inbox <3
Hey guys, so first of all i would like to address the fact of me not smiling in this photo, which for many of you dont know is a rare occurrence. i LOVE to smile but right now my face is so sore that this is the biggest smile i can manage lol. So i just finished washing my face and im waiting for it to dry so i can put my RAM on. but my face (mainly around my mouth), is burning really bad! im not sure why. For the past few days, everytime i wash my face and it comes time to put on my clyndamycin phosphate (dalacin) my face is burning so much! and i noticed that now when i wash my face i can see dead skin floating in the water and dead skin left over in my sink. and im not too sure why, im so gentle while washing my face so first off im not to sure why all this skin is coming off, and secondly why does my face burn so much. ATM if i look in the mirror i would see blood red marks where my skin usually flakes. has anyone had this problem, and if so what did they do? and also, how long does this last/ will my skin adjust to this? other than that i seem to have went through another breakout phase again. my skin has calmed down and all of the breakouts are more or less gone but i didnt know/think that there can be more than one break out phase? has anyone went through this either? my skin however is doing good as the acne marks are fading ever so slowly but i cant complain it is day 51 i think and im finally 16 although i didnt reach my goal of acne free skin by my birthday im not dis encouraged at all. you really cant put a due date on acne. treatments only do half the work, you need to do your half of the share also. please comment and ask questions thanks guys <3 the messages im getting in my inbox are really encouraging and i thank all of you guys for your kind words! <3
Hey guys, so today is day 45 on retin a and im in awe... ive been tracking my progress using photos and i see a major imporvement in my skin! smoother skin, more evened out skin tone, smaller blemishes, very few blemishes! For the first time in a while im just so happy to be able to go out and not be afraid to be seen! its a big emotional reliever and physical also! i never wake up with a sore face due to my acne i can move my face around and i wont feel any pain! (just using an example, do not touch your face haha), i feel more confident and happier. im glad i stuck through it. I mean its hard with the initial break out and the flaking but i promise you if you stick to it you will not be unsatisfied. I definitely reccomend this product for anyone whos on the brink nof giving up hope or just feel that nothing will work cause trust me i was in your shoes at one point but within a month and a half my life has dramatically changed! i am in no way a dermotolagist so dont take my word for it, do your research, go to your doctor and talk to them about it find out your skin type. using retin-a is more of a lifesyle because you have to hange the way you eat drink and live. i use to eat like a pig, fast food every week, pop, and juice, greasy foods, chips and candy anything you can imagine. Ever since i went on retin a i rarely drink pop, in the last 45 days ive had maybe 4 cups of pop, but i drink plenty of water to compensate. I still do eat fast food, but i watch what i eat i mean i look at mcdonalds and im disgusted by it so the only fast food i really eat is subway with is more of a healthy alternative but its not the best i try to eat plenty of greens. I learned to love to drink green tea with nothing in it! i know, weird right? but its honestly not that bad! and it helps your skin so much! i used to pick at my skin so much also, but now i fight the urge to and im so glad i do! im so happy i was able to change the way i live, and its not only good for my skin but for my whole body! if you guys want to see my other photos during my journey, then just message me and ill be more than happy to post them <3
Hi everyone so my name is Michael, I'm 15 years old from Canada and I suffer from nodular cystic acne. So for those of you who dont know what it is, nodular cystic acne is a severe form that happens deep within the skin (i think in the dermis), that is almost always painful and leaves acne marks! It's basically solid inflamed lesions on the skin that sometimes have white heads. I've personally been struggling with acne since grade 7, I'm only in grade 11 though but it's been a struggle both physically and emotionally. In elementary school i was teased for having acne although at that time it wasnt much, a blemish here and there, but as i got into highschool it got worse i would get them more frequently and more severly around my nose and chin. some days i would wake up and wish i could stay home cause i thought i was doing people a dis service for them to look at me, this was in grade 9. I actually thought that this was the worst of it... i was sadly mistaken. going into grade 10 my face was clear and i loved it, then somewhere along the way i started to get the acne again but not concentrated on my nose and chin like before. My whole face had it at least 7 on my cheeks and 5 on my forhead. it really took a toll on me emotionally when i would wake up look at myself and i couldnt even smile cause it hurt. Some days i would ask my mom to stay home cause i just felt terrible about my acne. All throughout my stuggle with acne i was made fun of and stared at. I didnt even want to go to the groceries anymore cause ONE time this child asked his mom what kind of disease i had. so half way through grade 10 i gave up and realized that acne is just something i have to deal with and became a self proclaimed pizza face. i was and am still very insecure about the way i looked. i mean i even tried covering it up with make up! ive tried many things for my acne and had it not work. ive done the stupid mistake of using 7 treatments at once in hope that it would cure me of this `disease` faster. ive cried because of it and have been extreamly depressed because of it also. Now im going into grade 11 with my skin almost clear, my head held high, and my self confidence boosted because of what has happened over the last 2 months and i want to tell you about how i was able to do something i only dreamed of a reality!
