Hey ya'll,

This product is great! It's been one day since I used the product, and my acne has gotten smaller and lighter. This product would be good for anyone, but especially for those who are sensitive to benzoyl peroxide like me. This product has a lot more natural ingredients (surprisingly), so it's gentler yet effective.

Try it out if you can! Let me know how it goes!!

I love it!

Hey everyone!

Just to follow up with my last entry, this blog is to help me and others discover ways to make acne leave once and for all, after a long time of investing. All good things come with time. The same goes for our painful and chronic acne issues. I understand how difficult acne can be on our lives...I really want to share any success stories I may encounter with you guys, so that we can all fight acne.

My acne is a hormonal issue. No matter what I do, it is almost impossible for it to go away. I have yet to go to the dermatologist or OB/GYN because I don't have health insurance.

I can say that exercise and sweating is one of the BIGGEST ways to control our acne! Also, we have to be consistent in eating healthier foods, like fruits, vegetables and whole grains. We have to try hard to stay away from a diet that consists of refined sugars and processed foods. These things are bad for our bodies and our pores.

I recently bought Mederma advanced (for scarring) because I have serious scars from the past. I got these scars on my ankles from ice skating. The skates dug into my ankles and left dark scars that are still there. When I read the packaging for this product, it said it can help with acne scarring. I think I believe it, because my friend told me it helped with scarring on her body. If this product is already effective with scars, I'm sure it would be effective with acne scars too. I am excited to see how much it will help. Another point is that this product is more expensive..it runs for about $22, depending on where you get it. I think it is better quality than most acne creams/gels.

Remember everyone, here are some important things to help with acne:

-Use gentle face washes and try switching it up by buying natural ones (ex: Burt's Bees Acne Wash) *AVOID HARSH SCRUBS/FACE WASHES*

-Eat healthier

-EXERCISE!

-Use oil free and non-comodegenic makeup and lotions!

Please comment if you have any experience with Mederma Scar Gel for your acne.

Hi guys,

You see this picture here? This is my skin right now. Believe it or not, my skin was worse before......just a few months ago. Things have drastically improved in the past month.

Let me share my story. Ever since last summer, my acne FLARED up and I was stuck with acne that I never had before in my life. I am currently 23 years old, and it is such a bummer to deal with harsh/chronic acne for one year now.

I started researching everywhere about acne, even this site. I tried everything, from Apple Cider Vinegar, to all-natural oatmeal facial scrubs, to honey masks, to certain acne products, to cucumbers and lemons...you name it, I tried it. Not to mention, I tried benzoyl peroxide and realized I was severely allergic to it! After trying almost everything out there, my acne never got better. Sometimes, it got worse.

Finally, one day my friend told me about her diet/lifestyle change and how it cleared up her skin. I cut out a lot of refined sugars, processed foods, dairy, and caffiene. I still treat myself to these things, but it is at a much lower dose than before. The biggest change was that I now consume more vegetables and fruits than ever before. I also eat fiber rich foods, like whole grain pasta, bread, along with almonds and other healthy foods. I also started working out a few times a week by going on the treadmill or running outside.

Let me say, this diet has helped a lot. I've lost a few pounds, but working out has somehow caused my skin to release the junk.

In addition, I started taking Fish oil pills and Zinc pills. I read online that those are supposed to help with acne.

Most importantly, I realized WHY my skin was suffering so much.... I was irritating it too much when I was washing and treating it!!! I used hand held cleaners, the kind that is battery operated with a rotating head...

The BEST way to treat your acne is this:

1) Use a good makeup remover

2) DO NOT scrub hard & ***try to avoid buying scrubs or harsh cleansers!!!!*** bc they leave your skin very dry and causes more acne bc of the harsh rubbing against the existing acne (irritation)

3) Use two different face washes

4) Sometimes I use an all natural face wash

5) Other times I use an acne face wash

6) Always moisturize with an OIL FREE acne lotion

I found that after I worked out and sweated a lot, I went straight to washing my face. My face cleared up much faster!

As far as makeup, always buy non-comodegenic and oil free makeup. That way, your face isn't being clogged.

Let me know if you have any questions, concerns or anything to contribute to what I have discovered!

The products I use:

Makeup remover: Basis Cleaner Clean Face wash (I get it from Wal-mart)

Face wash: Burt's Bees natural Acne Solutions with Salicylic Acid from Willow Bark Purifying GEL cleanser & Neutrogena Rapid Clear Foaming Scrub

Lotion: Neutrogena oil-free moisture for clear skin with salicylic acid & for day time I use Neutrogena intensified daily moisture spf 15 (it is oil free and non comodogenic)

Makeup: Maybelline super stay 24 concealer to cover certain acne scars; for my entire face I use lancome teint idole ultra 24h (but you can use ANY foundation that is oil free and non comodegenic); maybelline dream matte powder (oil free and non comodegenic) to finish off the foundation

So, what is the moral of the story?

Acne medications and cleansers are only supplemental aspects of treating acne. These products do NOT treat acne alone. You have to exercise and eat better AND treat your skin with these products. Even if you are out of shape and cannot exercise that much, just go for an intense walk for as long as it takes you to sweat from your face. You have to circulate the blood in your body and make sure that the junk is leaving your pores when you start to sweat! Acne is an internal issue!!!

To inspire myself and everyone reading, I want to keep posting updated pictures of my skin...I hope that I will soon be posting an acne free face!
